QUOTES
DALE JARRETT --88-- UPS Taurus (Qualified 18th) -- "We made a slight adjustment before qualifying and didn't realize it was gonna cool off quite this much and we were a little bit tight. It just pushed off of turn two the first lap and that kind of killed the speed, but that was the fastest we ran so I guess we gained a little bit." WHAT ABOUT THE TRACK'S SENSITIVITY? "This is a tough race track because there's no banking here and for our stock cars that makes it difficult. Handling is the key and you've just got to get it to where your car feels good and you can get off these corners and utilize the straightaway."

RICKY CRAVEN --32-- Tide Taurus (Qualified 39th) -- "This was not one of our better days, but the Tide Ford will be ready to race on Sunday. These guys have done a great job the last couple of months and it's been a lot of fun, but we are struggling a little bit right now. This is the car we won Martinsville with, so I get some inspiration in that." HOW COME NOBODY HAS PICKED UP SPEED ON THEIR SECOND LAP? "I think the track is pretty hot. That may change as the sun goes down, but the track is hot and it's built up more rubber so it's just harder to get a hold of."

MATT KENSETH --17-- DEWALT Power Tools Taurus (Qualified 21st) -- "That's great for the whole DEWALT team. Qualifying is definitely not our specialty, so if we're 25th or better that's usually a great run for us." YOU DIDN'T TAKE A SECOND LAP, WHY? "I felt like my first lap, at least from the driver's seat, was a solid lap and I felt I got all I could out of the car. On the second lap I tried to get a little bit more out of it. I got into one real good into the center, but then I got in the gas earlier and started spinning the tires and got loose up off of two. I tried to go faster, but I guess I couldn't go any faster than what I did on my first lap."

TODD BODINE --66-- Blue Light Special/Kmart Taurus (Qualified 12th) -- "We struggled in practice. We couldn't get it right and it was the same way in qualifying, but not nearly as bad. We made some changes that definitely helped us, but probably the biggest thing that picked us up was the tune on the motor. When you tune up these Yates motors they run, but the car was a lot better than it was in practice and now we'll just try to get a good race setup."

KURT BUSCH --97-- Sharpie/Rubbermaid Taurus (Qualified 32nd) -- "It was a dramatic pick up for us just like everybody else, but right now I'm just sick to my stomach. I don't know if we're gonna make the show or not. I just hate it that we're in this position with provisionals. It's tough. The Sharpie/Rubbermaid guys are much better than this and I just hope we can get in."

BRETT BODINE --11-- Ralphs Supermarkets/RedCell Batteries Taurus (Qualified 36th) -- "That's a good lap for us, I just hope it's good enough to get us in on speed. The guys worked real hard. We just never could get onto anything to get us off of turn four. We were terribly loose there all day and loose again in qualifying, so, hopefully, we'll get in the show all right. We did the best we can and now we're rooting for big brother Geoff to get in there with the 09 car."

KEVIN LEPAGE --7-- NationsRent Taurus (Qualified 28th) -- "I'm real happy with that. This is a home track for NationsRent and all the guys did a great job today. We unloaded and were off just a little bit, but Buddy Barnes, Scott Lepage and the whole Ultra Motorsports team put their heads together and came up with a good setup. Now we'll just see what we can do on Sunday." YOU WON HERE IN THE BUSCH SERIES. "Everytime I come to Homestead it reminds me when I won my first Busch race here in '96. The people here are great and I'm just tickled to be here today and I can't wait for Sunday."

MIKE WALLACE --12-- Mobil 1 Taurus (Qualified 29th) -- "I was hoping we would be better than that. We were like seventh in practice, but a lot of these guys have picked up some unbelievable speed. I don't know where we're missing it in regards to picking that much of it up, but the car felt pretty good. Maybe it felt so good it wasn't fast, but that was a tick faster than what we ran in practice. They always say if you can run faster qualifying than practice, then you did a good job. Well, some of them did a phenomenal job, so we'll get it ready to race."

ROBERT PRESSLEY --77-- Jasper Engines Taurus (Qualified 33rd) -- "We threw a whole lot at it on the second lap because we made so many changes after practice that we didn't really know what we had. I'm pretty happy with that and I think that will get us in the show."

JEFF BURTON --99-- Citgo SUPERGARD Taurus (Qualified 19th) -- "We needed to pick up a little more than we picked up. The car drove real good the first lap, but we needed our second lap because that was gonna be our best lap. I tried to get a little bit too much off of four and that cost us some, but that's gonna be at top 20. That isn't great, but it isn't terrible. It's just a slaughter. You look at where they (Dodge) are. This kick out thing on the Dodge is just a joke. I know we've got to have competitive cars and all that, but the very first time they (NASCAR) ever blew a car, they (Dodge) had the best car and then they gave them more for whatever reason. It's hard to compete against. Since they gave them that kick out, you look at their stats and they've been really good with poles and wins. I'm not taking away anything from those teams. Those teams are doing a great job, but when you have that big of an advantage, and halfway through the year you're given an advantage, that's pretty tough."

RUSTY WALLACE --2-- Miller Lite Taurus (Qualified 6th) -- "That's a good run for the team. We had a good draw too with the temperature and stuff, but a lot of them had the same opportunity. I feel good about it. There are still a couple more hotrods after us, but I believe that's a great qualifying run for us." YOU FEEL GOOD FOR SUNDAY? "I feel I've got just as good a chance as anybody out there, I really do. I feel real good about it. This is a real flat race track, it's like driving a gigantic skid pad. I think downforce is real important and we're gonna have to get some good, soft springs in the front to keep that nose down and keep the thing turning all day long. That's gonna be important."

BRETT BODINE, Car Owner --09-- Miccosukee Taurus (Geoffrey Bodine qualified 35th) -- YOU'RE 2-FOR-2 IN QUALIFYING WITH 2 CARS. "I'm telling you, I've got to be crazy. This one was way too close. Geoff and I just have not been good enough all day. Thankfully, he really stepped up here and put that thing in the show on speed. I'm just really happy for him and happy for our sponsors -- the Miccosukee indians. They've been tremendous supporters of Geoff and Barry and myself here in the state of Florida in the past and we're just really happy to get them in the show here in their hometown." WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO YOU TO DO THIS TWICE WITH YOUR SMALL OPERATION? "It means that I'm really crazy. We can't do this. We've rolled the dice twice and we've been very, very lucky. I just thank God I've got a great driver in Geoff because he can direct a team and drive it and get the job done. My hat's off to the him and the guys because they're the ones that did it."

RICKY RUDD --28-- Texaco Havoline Taurus (Qualified 4th) -- "We actually picked up about three-tenths. I'm real pleased with that. All of these guys on this Texaco Havoline Ford did a great job. We just can't run against that Dodge downforce. They've got an air dam that sticks out -- when you come off of turn four the thing is crossing the start-finish line, so we can't compete with that. We're fast for our class, but we've got a tough race in front of us. We're gonna go out there and do the best we can. Hopefully, we'll end up towards the front."

MARK MARTIN --6-- Pfizer Taurus (Qualified 16th) -- "Neither lap was particularly special, but I'm a pretty good qualifier. If I have a strong suit, that would be it. So all that means is that we're really not all that good because I can usually take a middle of the pack car and do that easy. Well, that tells you what we've got here. We've got our work cut out for us."
