The last will be first, as Jeff Gordon used his last-to-qualify run to win the pole for Sunday's 3M Performance 400 NASCAR Nextel Cup race. Starting alongside of Gordon will be Greg Biffle, who is sponsored by 3M.
It was Gordon's 53rd career Nextel Cup pole.
Following Gordon and Biffle are Kasey Kahne, Bobby Labonte, and Elliott
Sadler. Starting sixth is Kyle Busch, followed by Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, Clint
Bowyer, with Mark Martin starting tenth.
Toyota made a strong showing with Michael Waltrip in 11th, and David
Reutimann in 12th. Only Dale Jarrett and AJ Allmendinger failed to make the
race among the Toyota teams.
Among those not in the top 35 in points, making the show on time are Michael
Waltrip, John Andretti, Dave Blaney, Brian Vickers, Ward Burton, Joe
Nemechek, Scott Riggs and David Reutimann. Those not making the show include
Dale Jarrett,
Johnny Sauter, Kevin Lepage, AJ Allmendinger, Scott Wimmer and Jeremy
Mayfield.
