One year. One Roadster. 40,000 miles

I first heard of Tesla when I read an article about the company in the big German business publication Manager Magazin. Before I even finished reading, I wanted a Roadster. An electric sports car with great performance and industry-leading range? I immediately reserved the car, even before I could test drive it the following year at the Geneva Motor Show. I couldn’t wait for my car to be delivered!  I know that a lot of customers fall in love with the Roadster in a similar way – but I don’t consider myself a “typical” Roadster owner or even a typical premium car owner.

While there are still debuts yet to be announced, the LA AutoShow has already been quite interesting with many new models revealed, including the  Mercedes BIOME Concept shown to the right, and of course the big announcement - that Lotus would be supplying IndyCar engines beginning in 2012.
Mercedes-Benz launches CLS 63 AMG
  All new design
Following on from the recent launch of the second generation Mercedes-Benz CLS, details have been announced of the high performance version - the monstrous CLS 63 AMG. The top of the range model is powered by a newly developed AMG V8 biturbo engine as well as the AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed sports transmission. On top of this, the car gets a phenomenal fuel consumption of 28.5mpg.
All-new 2012 BMW 6-Series Convertible
  Goes on sale in March
BMW launches new 6-series convertible before the coupe and it looks more sporty and less poser BMW has broken away from its traditional launch approach by launching a convertible before its hard top coupe sibling. This is the third-generation 6-series and what a fantastic looking vehicle it is. Its first official debut will be the Detroit motor show in January where it will be shown off to the public for the first time. It is due for release in March.

      Mercedes to put another nail in the gas engine coffin
    Images of the electric-powered Mercedes-Benz SLS leak onto the internet just as expected.  Known as the Mercedes SLS AMG E-cell concept, the car sheds its standard SLS AMG’s 571HP 6.3-liter V8 petrol engine to make place for four electric motors placed near the wheels effectively making it a four-wheel drive model. the E-cell can sprint from 0-62 mph in a claimed 4.0 sec.

    Porsche unveiled the 918 Spyder concept car at the Geneva Auto Show in March. Since then, the buzz on this car has been virtually non-stop. It gives hybrid cars an entirely new image, with performance that rivals any supercar in the world, and fuel economy and emissions that would make a Prius jealous. Now, wealthy sports car owners don't have to drive a contradiction.

    Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon
      Show Car Debuts At The New York Auto Show
    Cadillac today unveiled the CTS-V Sport Wagon show car, foreshadowing the next addition to its V-Series performance line. It combines the performance and luxury of the landmark CTS-V Sport Sedan with the dramatic design of the CTS Sport Wagon.  The exterior is finished in Midnight Silver, first seen on the Cadillac Sixteen Concept, and accented by lustrous Liquid Silver-finished wheels and a black chrome finish.

    GM EN-V Concept: A Vision for Future Urban Mobility

Group (SAIC), share a common vision for addressing the need for personal mobility through a radical change in personal urban transportation.  They are exploring several solutions for tomorrow’s drivers.  Among the most promising is a new vehicle form called EN-V.

    Porsche Makes a GT3R Hybrid!

    The 12 Hours of Sebring, 24 Hours of LeMans, the Rolex 24...endurance racing prizes that task the endurance of man and machine.  Porsche executives have continually stated that a hybrid Porsche sports car was a long shot.

    BMW has announced substantial enhancements to the 2011 3 Series Coupe and Convertible, including outstanding style updates for 328i and 335i models and a new engine for 335i models. The 2011 3 Series Coupe and Convertible models will go on sale in Spring 2010.  Fundamentally unchanged are each car’s essential attributes of rear-wheel drive (xDrive is available on the Coupe), near-perfect 50-50 weight distribution, remarkably precise steering, and skillfully engineered suspension.
    2010 Camaro Synergy Special Edition

    Hot and cool exterior colors are a part of Chevy Camaro history. Now the 2010 model is getting its own. Chevrolet today debuts the Camaro Synergy Special Edition with pricing starting at $26,790. Synergy will be produced in limited quantities from February to May.  Synergy Green continues a long tradition of dramatic Camaro colors.

    Ford see the lights, and it's electric
      As AR1.com has told you for years - electric is the future
    Ford Motor Company Monday announced it will invest an additional $450 million in its aggressive electric vehicle plan, paving the way to build a next-generation hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicle in Michigan beginning in 2012 and creating 1,000 new jobs.  This comes in addition to Ford's already announced plans to invest $550 million to transform Michigan Assembly Plant from a large SUV factory to a modern car plant to build the all-new Focus starting in 2010 and Focus Electric pure battery electric vehicle in 2011.
