Kasey Kahne put Dodge and Budweiser on the pole for the Pocono 500 with a late afternoon run that bounced Jimmie Johnson to the outside of the front row.  It was Kahne's second career pole at the 2.5-mile speedway since setting the track qualifying record of 172.533 mph back in this event in 2004.

Kahne was fastest in practice and followed the run up with the pole.

“Today, (the car) went right around the corners," Kahne said. "Three corners and it went through all three of them perfect. I was really happy. Coming to the checker, I knew that it was a really good lap."

Jimmie Johnson, who went out first in the session, qualified second with a lap of 169.856 mph.

“I was really, really pleased with that qualifying lap," Johnson said. "Being the first car out is never a good situation. So for us to put up a lap like that says a lot about the type of car we have and how good it’s been driving."

Mark Martin in third (168.897 mph) and rookie Regan Smith in fourth (168.745 mph).
