It was a special day for Greg Biffle and Ford at Michigan International Speedway. Biffle won his fourth race at MIS and delivered the 1,000th all-time win for Ford in NASCAR in the Quicken Loans 400 today. It was the second straight win for Biffle at MIS, who won the August 2012 race. It was Ford’s 33rd Cup win at MIS. Kevin Harvick finished second and Martin Truex Jr. was third, followed by Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart.

Edwards averaged a best speed of 202.452 mph as he ran his second lap in 35.564 seconds to earn his first career Coors Light pole at one of his best tracks. The Roush Fenway Racing driver managed to stave off a challenge from Kurt Busch, who hit the track fourth from last. Busch qualified at 201.879 mph (35.665).

Driving the No. 25 RC Cola car, he buried the track two-lap qualifying record set in 2012 by Dario Franchitti (168.737 mph average) with an average of 170.515 mph. James Hinchcliffe will start next to his teammate on the front row in the No. 27 GoDaddy.com car. Hinchcliffe recorded the fastest lap of the weekend (170.868 mph) on Lap 1 of qualifying, but the 2-lap average is what counted.
