745,000 Mercedes-Benz Vehicles Recalled Over Loose Sunroof Assemblies
Be on the lookout for flying Mercedes Sunroofs on the highway
Be on the lookout for flying Mercedes Sunroofs on the highway

People often worry about the extra weight or potential leaks associated with having a sunroof in their vehicles, but we’re guessing a recent recall from Mercedes-Benz raises the red flag on an issue not many have considered. In some coupes and sedans made by the company, the sunroof assembly can detach from the glass, allowing it to fly off of the car.

The recall affects Mercedes-Benz cars made between 2001 and 2011, adding up to nearly 750,000 vehicles overall. The issue relates specifically to all trims of the following models: 2003-2009 E-Class, 2007-2011 CLS-Class, 2001-2007 C-Class, and the 2003-2009 CLK-Class.

Historically, except for the Indy 500, 100% of the time when a track takes on a Cup race the IndyCar event dies. It's likely Gateway would be no different.

UPDATE “Every day I wake up, my goal, when I get out of bed, is to move the ball farther in trying to get us a NASCAR Cup race,” said Chris Blair, general manager and executive vice president of the World Wide Technology Raceway (Gateway).

NASCAR officials are watching, Blair says, and believing in St. Louis after seeing the success of the Bommarito 500.
