Goodyear won't be able to do tire test after Texas repave Goodyear stated that it will not be able to conduct a tire test at Texas Motors Speedway following completion of the repave and reconfiguration project the track announced Friday morning. In addition to the repave, the track is reducing the banking in Turns 1 and 2 from 24 degrees to 20 degrees. The racing surface's width will expand from 60 to 80 feet in those turns. The banking and racing surface in Turns 3 and 4 will not change. The project - which begins Monday - is scheduled for completion in early March, but Goodyear said in a statement that the narrow window before NASCAR's April 7-9 race dates at Texas prevents the tire manufacturer from holding a test.
The mental midgets of F1 made the tires wider (instead of narrower) and increased downforce (instead of reducing it) which means brake zones will be so short there will be little to no passing and corners are now 100% throttle no talent required kinks.
"McLaren technical director Tim Goss says some corners will no longer be considered corners by the engineers, as drivers won't need to lift off the throttle in the 2017 cars, like they would have had to in previous seasons.
The new breed of cars will have greater mechanical grip from the wider Pirelli tires, whilst a larger diffuser and larger wings will increase downforce to the extent that cars will be able to take some corners flat as if they were straight.
"One knock-on from that [the new regulations] is that we'll no longer classify some corners as 'corners'," said Goss.

Wider tires and more downforce = less passing, bigger crashes due to higher cornering speeds, and more serious injuries
The organizers of the Australian Grand Prix say they've been forced to install additional safety barriers at certain corners due to the expected increase in cornering speeds this year.
The new technical regulations this year will mean quicker cars. Wider tires and wings are expected to see the cars carry an additional 20-30mph through a high-speed corner, forcing organizers to improve safety measures as any mid-corner incidents will happen at far higher-speeds than previously.
Tecpro barriers will be installed at turn 12 in place of tire walls, whilst the barriers at turns one, six and 14 will be beefed up, providing an additional layer of safety according to Craig Moca, division manager of infrastructure at the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.
