FireKeepers Casino Hotel extends its entitlement sponsorship at MIS
Michigan International Speedway and FireKeepers Casino Hotel have extended their partnership that will keep the casino as the entitlement sponsor for the June Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race for many years to come
Michigan International Speedway and FireKeepers Casino Hotel have extended their partnership for many years to come that will keep the casino as the entitlement sponsor for the June Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race.
“The FireKeepers Casino 400 is one of the region’s top sporting events and we are proud and excited to extend our title sponsorship with Michigan International Speedway,” FireKeepers Casino Hotel CEO Kathy George said. “The roar of the crowd and dramatic finishes will continue to draw tens of thousands of fans to our region and expand the brand awareness of the award-winning FireKeepers Casino Hotel.”
FireKeepers Casino Hotel has seen the benefits of partnering with Michigan International Speedway since sponsoring pole day in 2014. The next season, the casino naturally viewed the entitlement sponsor for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race as a way to increase its involvement in the sport and reach new guests.
Watkins Glen International, Go Bowling announce 'striking' partnership
Kyle Busch at The Glen
Watkins Glen International and Go Bowling today announced Go Bowling as title sponsor of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) race at The Glen starting this season. The Go Bowling at The Glen race will headline a NASCAR tripleheader weekend also featuring the NASCAR XFINITY Series and NASCAR K&N Pro East Series, August 2-5.
“We are thrilled to welcome Go Bowling to the Watkins Glen International family with the entitlement agreement,” WGI President Michael Printup said. “Having grown up outside of Buffalo, I know just how popular bowling is around our state. While I’ve never quite bowled a 300, our team has done just that with this partnership.”
SportsCenter's Nicole Briscoe Will Host ABC's Indianapolis 500 Telecast
Nicole is married to former IndyCar driver Ryan Briscoe
ESPN has signed SportsCenter anchor Nicole Briscoe to a new contract and given her some extra duty: hosting ABC’s telecast of the Indianapolis 500.
Briscoe’s new multi-year deal will see her continuing as an anchor for SportsCenter, a position she’s been in since January of 2015. She recently moved from late night to daytime and weekend editions of ESPN’s signature news and information program. Prior to becoming a SportsCenter anchor, Briscoe was part of ESPN’s coverage of NASCAR as a host and reporter from when she joined the network in 2008.
GoDaddy will sponsor Danica Patrick in the "upcoming 'Danica Double' that will close out her racing career." Patrick has "no ride yet for next month's Daytona 500 or the Indianapolis 500 in May, but she now has the financial backing to pull it off."
The company previously backed Patrick and followed her from IndyCar to NASCAR as a primary sponsor, but then "pulled out of racing after the 2015 season." GoDaddy CMO Barb Rechterman said, "Our goals are so well-aligned." AP
In an interview with ESPN.com, Patrick would not say whether her Daytona ride would be in one of the cars that has a guaranteed spot or whether she would have to vie for the four open spots and qualify her way into the 40-car field.
With no marriage proposal in sight, Danica dumped little Ricky like a bad habit
With Daytona 500 qualifying less a little more than three weeks away, Patrick seemed confident she could have a competitive ride. With all the major rides taken for Daytona, it appears Patrick will have to compete with a smaller, less-funded organization.
"We're definitely pretty close on all that stuff, especially on the NASCAR side," Patrick said. "We'll be announcing that as soon as we can. I wouldn't do it if it wasn't going to be a situation that would give me an opportunity to run up front and win the race."
Danica in 2010 - while still in IndyCar
As far as the Indianapolis 500, Patrick said "there have been a lot of cool options on the IndyCar side."
Patrick has had a busy offseason with her new business ventures, looking for sponsorship and rides. She also went through the breakup in late November with driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. before dating Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. She wouldn't talk about the reasons for the breakup.
"Obviously I like to keep my personal life, personal," she said. "But there are only kind thoughts and feelings and hoping the best for everyone. It's all about being in the best place that you can be for yourself."
This time around with GoDaddy, Patrick will symbolize the new core mission of the company that helped make her one of the world's most recognizable athletes.
"There's this great story: I left IndyCar with GoDaddy on my car, I started NASCAR with GoDaddy on my car, I'm most recognized as the GoDaddy green car and driver, and so to finish up my career that way feels appropriate," Patrick told the AP from Scottsdale, Arizona.

Michael Andretti collects his 5th Baby Borg - so small a Saturday Night dirt track race trophy dwarfs it. IMS should be ashamed of themselves given the profit they make on the Indy 500
The trophy collection of Michael Andretti has a new addition as the Andretti Autosport namesake visited the annual Automotive News World Congress Awards Dinner in Detroit Wednesday to collect his fifth BorgWarner Championship trophy.
The BorgWarner Championship trophies are unique replicas of the iconic Borg-Warner Trophy awarded to the winner of the Indianapolis 500 on Memorial Day weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Baby Borg trophies are 14 inches high and weigh 5 pounds. The owner's trophy features a band of art deco race cars accented in gold to symbolize the importance of teamwork.
Andretti's newest miniature version of the 5’4 ¾” sterling-silver trophy was earned at the 101st Indy 500 as the No. 26 Ruoff Home Mortgage Honda took the checkered flag with Takuma Sato behind the wheel. Andretti’s newest Baby Borg joins iconic trophies from the team’s previous four victories produced by Dan Wheldon (2005), Dario Franchitti (2007), Ryan Hunter-Reay (2014) and Alexander Rossi (2016).

Mario Andretti and A.J. Foyt are two of the greatest race car drivers of all time.
Andretti has 52 career wins and an Indianapolis 500 title while Foyt is the all-time leader in wins with 67. Foyt has won the Indy 500 four times, too. Many of those wins came over the other, which led to a fierce rivalry.
But that's all in the past. At best now, they're friendly rivals. That much was clear in a Tweet sent by Andretti on Tuesday, wishing Foyt a happy birthday.
Sato, Andretti receive 'Baby Borg' trophies to honor victory in 101st Indy 500
Andretti and Sato get their Baby Borgs. The biggest race in the world and those trophy's are smaller than what you get at a Saturday night dirt track race. Embarrassing.
Verizon IndyCar Series driver Takuma Sato and team owner Michael Andretti each received BorgWarner Championship trophies, also known as the "Baby Borg," this evening to honor their thrilling victory in the 101st Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil last May.
BorgWarner Inc. President and CEO James Verrier presented the BorgWarner Championship Driver's Trophy to Sato and the BorgWarner Championship Team Owner's trophy to Andretti Autosport owner Andretti during the annual Automotive News World Congress Dinner in Detroit, held in conjunction with the North American International Auto Show.
"I haven't decided if it's going to Indy or Japan," a smiling Sato said of the ultimate destination for his trophy. "Anywhere will do.

While the drag racing operations will be shut down, the families other racing facilities - including a road course, go-kart and motorcross tracks as well as an airport - will continue to operate.

WILLIAMS MARTINI RACING is pleased to announce Robert Kubica as its Reserve and Development Driver for the 2018 Formula One season.
Robert’s return to Formula One included several tests with Williams over the second half of last year, as well as the Abu Dhabi Pirelli tire test at the conclusion of the 2017 season. He will have a particularly active role within the team this year, including participation in the Barcelona pre-season testing, in-season testing, and will also take part in a number of race weekend practice sessions.
The Dakar contested its first stage in Argentina this year and also encountered much warmer temperatures than in recent days, with almost 40°C in the shade. The danger was that this could tire the competitors on the vast sandy terrain covering the first part of the special and then perhaps rob them of their lucidity when tackling the last part, in which tricky navigation through river beds had pride of place…

Many car manufacturers have joined the modern era by adopting Android Auto, Apple CarPlay or both, but not Toyota. It insisted on going its own way, and that has usually meant skipping its cars entirely if you cared about smartphone integration.
Thankfully, the automaker has seen the light. The 2019 Avalon and future models (including Lexus vehicles) with an Entune 3.0 or Enform 2.0 system will support Apple CarPlay, letting you use the more sophisticated apps from your iPhone instead of making do with limited built-in features.
