Expected to produce more dramatic moments in each race from the green flag to the checkered flag, the new format offers playoff-point incentives that emphasize performance across every lap.

Hooters has joined 12-time NASCAR Cup Series champions Hendrick Motorsports as a primary sponsor of driver Chase Elliott and the #24 Chevrolet SS team beginning in 2017. A casual dining establishment with a deep history in NASCAR, Hooters will be a two-race primary sponsor and full-season associate sponsor of the #24 team in both 2017 and 2018.
The Hooters Chevrolet SS will debut May 7 at Talladega Superspeedway and appear again during the Chase for the NASCAR Cup Nov. 12 at Phoenix International Raceway. Hooters has been a primary sponsor in more than 150 Cup-level races, notably as the full-season sponsor of 1992 premier series champion Alan Kulwicki.
Will Phillips Joins AJ Foyt Racing as Technical Director

WALLER, Texas -- Will Phillips joins AJ Foyt's ABC Supply Racing team as the team's technical director, replacing Don Halliday, who retired at the end of 2016.
Phillips will also be the race engineer of the No. 14 ABC Supply Chevrolet piloted by Carlos Munoz. Daniele Cucchiaroni returns as the race engineer of the team's other entry, the No. 4 ABC Supply Chevrolet with driver Conor Daly.
Hiring Phillips from KW Motorsport is the final piece to the puzzle which has been put in place as the team overhauls its operation in the off season. In addition to new drivers, the switch to Chevrolet power and aero kits, the AJ Foyt Racing has hired new personnel for the No. 4 ABC Supply Chevrolet team which will be based in Speedway, Ind. for most of the race season.
Seven years ago, Tequila Patron ESM arrived on the sports car racing scene in the American Le Mans Series, boasting its bold green and black liveries. Brad Keselowski Racing Announces Driver Lineup NASCAR Truck Series CONCORD, N.C. (Sunday, January 22) - Brad Keselowski Racing (BKR) announced its team lineup details for the 2017 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season at the National Motorsports Press Association annual convention in Concord, N.C.
Austin Cindric will pilot the No. 19 Draw-Tite Ford F-150 and Chase Briscoe, who was recently named as the first driver in the Ford Performance development program, joins the organization as the driver of the No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford F-150. Cindric and Briscoe will both compete on a full-time basis as they pursue the NCWTS championship for BKR. Doug Randolph, who has been atop the pit box at BKR since 2012, will serve as crew chief for Cindric, while two-time NCWTS championship-winning crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. will lead the effort for Briscoe.

Wehrlein said: "I'm very sorry to withdraw from today’s ROC Nations Cup. I’d really like to race again and I feel fine, but the doctors have advised me to rest so of course I will take their advice. It’s no more than mild discomfort but my real priority for the coming year is my Formula 1 season. So while I'm sad to be missing out on all the action, I send my best wishes to my team-mate Sebastian Vettel and the rest of the competitors here in Miami and I wish them another exciting day’s racing."

NASCAR to announce 2017 changes on Monday Monday at 6:00pm/et in the Charlotte Convention Center, NASCAR officials will announce format changes for the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Those changes could include such things as a new points system, awarding points for leading race segments, new qualifying procedures and perhaps running the Chase race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on the track's infield circuit.
While it can't top Carl Edwards announcing he won't drive this year, one of the more surprising things that took place this offseason was the news that Chris Buescher, a Ford driver, would be loaned to JTG Daugherty, a Chevrolet team. "At first sight, it certainly gave us second thoughts," admitted Raj Nair, executive vice president for Global Product Development and Chief Technical Officer for Ford. "As we thought about it ... this is the right thing to do."

Hyundai Motorsport’s chances of securing a maiden Rallye Monte-Carlo victory were cruelly ended on Saturday afternoon when Thierry Neuville, who had been in imperious form, damaged his car during the final stage of the day.
Neuville had further increased his impressive lead of the rally to 50 seconds heading into SS13 (Bayons-Breziers) but his Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC ran a bit wide at the exit of a slow corner. A resultant impact caused suspension damage that required Neuville and co-driver Nicolas Gilsoul to carry out lengthy repairs.

Petty and Earnhardt to appear at auto show in Philadelphia today With a large and enthusiastic crowd in attendance, the 2017 Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports Race Car & Trade Show opened at 2:00 p.m., for the first day of a three-day run in the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center.
“Our Short Track Super Series and Georgetown Speedway booths were very busy all day,” said Heather Deyo, wife of STSS and Georgetown promoter Brett Deyo. “They were still three deep at our booths when the announcement was made that the show was closing for the day.”
Stewart to drive Little 500 at Anderson Tony Stewart said he was retiring from NASCAR, not from all forms of racing.
The two-time Brickyard 400 winner from Columbus native is scheduled to drive in the Pay Less Little 500 sprint car race at Anderson Motor Speedway on May 27, the night before the Indianapolis 500, according to a news release from Hoffman Auto Racing.

As reported earlier, NHTSA is closing its investigation of the fatal accident on Tesla Autopilot without finding any defect or issuing any recall. We now have access to the full report and there are some interesting key findings about the crash and Tesla's Autopilot in general.
For example, the agency reviewed data that indicates Tesla's crash rate was reduced by 40% after the Autopilot's Autosteer feature was introduced.
Autosteer is the main feature of the Autopilot system and it enables the vehicle to steer itself in certain conditions.

Stewart-Haas Racing Still Seeking Anchor Sponsor For Bowyer's NASCAR Cup Series Car
Stewart-Haas Racing will field four cars during the '17 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season, but the team has "not announced an anchor sponsor for the majority of races" for Clint Bowyer, who replaces Tony Stewart in the No. 14, according to Bob Pockrass of ESPN.com. Bowyer recently "stood in front of a Mobil 1-branded car" during an event at the Ford Performance Technical Center even though Mobil "just has a few races with Bowyer next season." Stewart: "We're still working, still looking for sponsors for the 14 car so feel free to bring whatever you've got." Pockrass notes Bowyer's car would "run without sponsorship, if necessary, or with the Haas Automation logos of team co-owner Gene Haas on the car." Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix officials announced today that Comerica Bank will return as the sponsor of Free Prix Day on Friday, June 2 as Detroit opens its doors to everyone for the first day of its three-day motorsports festival.
All fans will be able to enter the Raceway at Belle Isle Park and tour the paddock area, known as the “locker room of motorsports,” on Comerica Bank Free Prix Day at no cost. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Comerica Bank has provided fans the opportunity to experience the Grand Prix venue free of charge on Friday of race weekend with complimentary access to Belle Isle Park. VW joins Ford, BMW to offer Amazon's 'Alexa' voice service

LAS VEGAS -- Volkswagen will offer the first embedded application of Amazon's Alexa voice service in a vehicle, as the growing focus on network-connected appliances and other home devices inspires collaborations between automakers and technical service providers.
While other automakers including Ford, BMW and Hyundai are introducing Alexa, their applications work only with via a smartphone app connected to the car's infotainment system.
VW says it is the first to have directly integrated the feature into the car's own system without an intermediary as interface.
