Streiff blasts FIA over Bianchi report, FIA to sue Streiff (2nd Update) UPDATE #2
Philippe Streiff - Paralyzed in his AGS at the Autodromo Nelson Piquet in 1989
(GMM)  Philippe Streiff has apologized to FIA president Jean Todt.

Todt, and the governing body's medical commission chief Gerard Saillant, vowed to sue the wheelchair-bound former F1 driver after he criticized their handling of the investigation into Bianchi's horror Suzuka crash.

"I let myself get carried away in front of the camera," Streiff, who was paralyzed in a 1989 pre-season crash, said in a statement issued through the FIA.

The 59-year-old Frenchman, who has also stirred controversy with his comments about Michael Schumacher's health condition, acknowledged that what he said about Todt, Saillant and the FIA was "insulting and defamatory".

Arrivabene backs Lauda for F1 'revolution'
(GMM)  Ferrari has called for a rules "revolution" for formula one in 2017.

Upset with the mild tone of the new V6 engines and a dwindling audience, Bernie Ecclestone wants a radical change and this week he earned the backing of Mercedes' team chairman and F1 legend Niki Lauda.

"I want a car for the future that has 1,200 horse power, wide tires -- formula one needs to be faster and more difficult, as it once was," Lauda said.

2015 F1 pace will be three seconds quicker - Pirelli
Formula One cars could be three seconds quicker per lap than they were last year and back to V8 era levels of pace, according to tire suppliers Pirelli.

One of the primary complaints during the V6s first year in 2014 was that the cars were too slow, with qualifying and race times remaining off the benchmarks set with V8 in previous years. However the cars improved pace drastically over the season and the development curve will have continued into this year.

Pre-season testing begins on February 1 and Pirelli motorsport boss Paul Hembery reckons a dramatic increase in speed will be seen between now and the opening flyaway races.

Ecclestone predicts Mercedes will make F1 a borefest for another 3 years
With the superior Mercedes, Hamilton will win the F1 title in 2015, 2016 and 2017 giving him a total of five
Bernie Ecclestone fears it may be three more years before Mercedes' current domination of F1 ends, with the sport's chief describing an agreement on a change of engine format as his one wish for 2015.

F1 is currently gearing up its second season of running with turbo V6 power units following a dramatic change to the regulations. After Red Bull dominated the end of the previous era, it was Mercedes who established a big initial advantage last year as their new V6 unit proved the class of the field, a power advantage which provided the platform for their works team to dominate the season and win both World Championship titles.

Mercedes' rivals are once more expecting an uphill challenge in 2015 and Ecclestone, who has made no secret of his disdain of the new complex, quieter engines, cannot see how the Brackley outfit can be challenged in the short-term unless the rules are changed again.

The No. 60 Michael Shank Racing Ligier JS P2 Honda completed a clean sweep of leading all four TUDOR United SportsCar Championship sessions on Thursday for the 53rd Rolex 24 at Daytona, as AJ Allmendinger led the one and a half hour night practice.

The No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP was second with the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP third.

RSR Racing led Prototype Challenge with Bruno Junqueira clocking a 1:44.107 in the No. 11 Oreca FLM09.

Waltrip & McReynolds React to Announcement 2015 Will Be Jeff Gordon's Final, Fulltime Season
Four-time NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES champion Jeff Gordon announced today that 2015 will be his final, fulltime season behind the wheel.  Below, NASCAR on FOX analyst and Hall of Famer Darrell Waltrip and Larry McReynolds react to the news:

"Jeff's accomplishments off the track are impressive, but his numbers on the track are unbelievable.  I call him the 'GOAT' - the Greatest of All Time.  I believe he is the greatest NASCAR driver there has ever been. What he has done outside the sport has grown the sport's popularity immensely.  I give Jeff a tremendous amount of credit for the youth movement in NASCAR.  A lot of people think NASCAR started in 1992, because that's when he came on the scene and brought in a new, young audience because he appealed to the 18-35-year-old demographic.  We didn't really have a driver at the time who could do that.
