Jack Roush to Be Honored by NCMA with Prestigious 'Achievement in Motorsports Tribute Award'
Racing legend and entrepreneurial pioneer Jack Roush will receive the prestigious Achievement in Motorsports Tribute Award by the North Carolina Motorsports Association (NCMA) during the 12th Annual Awards Ceremony presented by Fifth Third Bank on Tuesday, Jan. 30.
“Jack Roush’s contributions to motorsports are immeasurable and for 30 years, Roush Fenway Racing has been the standard in innovation and performance,” said NCMA Chairman Greg Fornelli. “When you look at his innovations, his record of success and his impact on the sport of auto racing, Jack Roush is the epitome of achievement in motorsports and we look forward to celebrating his amazing career on our biggest night.”
Genesis Establishes Independent Dealer Network In The USA

Today, Hyundai Motor America and Genesis Motor America informed existing Hyundai dealers that offers would be forthcoming soon to pave the way to establishing a distinct and properly-sized Genesis retail network. Additionally, certain dealers who are parties to the Genesis Participation Agreement (GPA), currently doing business in defined key markets, will be given the first opportunity to apply for the Genesis franchise. Applications are expected to be received within a specified timeframe and the Genesis retailer selection process will begin concurrently.
United Autosports have confirmed they will enter the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup this year.

ARCA and MAVTV Motorsports Network Announce 12-Race Broadcast Schedule
Officials from the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) and MAVTV Motorsports Network announced today that MAVTV will televise 12 ARCA Racing Series, presented by Menards, race events in 2018.
Eleven of the 12 races will be Live on MAVTV in 2018, the second year of a three-year broadcast agreement with ARCA. The 2018 broadcast package includes the first ever superspeedway event scheduled for live coverage on the MAVTV Motorsports Network from Michigan International Speedway, Friday afternoon, June 8.

Foyt’s ABC Supply team ran its first two-car test with INDYCAR’s new aero kit at Sebring International Raceway’s modified road course this past Wednesday and Thursday and deemed the test a success on all counts. Tony Kanaan had tested the aero kit in December but this was the team’s first experience with the new and much more complex electronics system that will be used this season by all teams.
Kanaan did the development work for the team as his rookie teammate Matheus ‘Matt’ Leist familiarized himself with the car and the track as it was his first time testing at the central Florida circuit.
Conway Fastest in Final Rolex 24 Practice at Daytona
Action Express Racing’s Mike Conway set the pace in the fourth and final practice session on Friday morning for the Rolex 24 at Daytona with a lap of 1:36.865 in his No. 31 Cadillac DPi-V.R to go 0.181 seconds quicker than Lance Stroll’s No. 37 Jackie Chan DCR JOTA Oreca 07 Gibson.
Tristan Vautier was third for Spirit of Daytona Racing while Rene Rast came fourth in the No. 77 Mazda RT24-P.
Comerica Bank Free Prix Day Returns for 2018 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix
A tradition that began back in 1982 with the first Grand Prix on the streets of Detroit will continue in 2018 thanks to Comerica Bank. Today at the North American International Auto Show, the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear will announce the return of Comerica Bank Free Prix Day on Friday, June 1, which will allow all guests free entry to the race venue and the paddock area at Belle Isle.
All fans will be able to visit the Raceway at Belle Isle Park and tour the paddock, known as the “locker room of motorsports,” courtesy of Comerica Bank. It will mark the sixth consecutive year that Comerica Bank has provided fans this free access, inviting everyone to experience the first day of on-track activity at the Grand Prix.
Bobby Rahal named recipient of 2017 Bob Snodgrass Award
Bobby Rahal, a principal of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, which runs BMW Team RLL in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, has been named the recipient of the 2017 Rolex Bob Snodgrass Award of Excellence, presented by Gorsline Company.
The announcement was made by Bob Snodgrass' son Harris during the Road Racing Drivers Club annual members' dinner, held at the Daytona 500 Club on Wed, Jan. 24.
In an unforeseen turn of events, Tomy Drissi finds himself sitting out the annual twice around the clock motorsports spectacular. Drissi was slated to drive the No. 20 BAR1 Motorsports Gibson powered Riley Multimatic MK30. Unfortunately, business commitments will keep the Trans Am Champion in California.
“I knew going in there was a small window this situation might arise,” said Tomy. “it’s an ongoing project that demands my personal attention. Everything looked good just a week ago, however early this week, that small window became a large. I can’t describe my disappointment… but business is business.”

Detroit GP Has $58 Million Impact On Local Economy
Last year’s Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear generated an all-time high in total spending and economic impact for the metropolitan Detroit area.
According to an independent study conducted by the nationally-recognized consulting firm Sportsimpacts, the 2017 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear created an estimated $58 million in total spending within the Greater Detroit region of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. The total represents an increase of nearly $11 million in total spending from the last Detroit Grand Prix economic study, conducted in 2014. Total spending accounts for all local and non-local expenditures related to the event.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Group One Thousand One and Andretti Autosport have unveiled the new livery for Zach Veach’s No. 26 Group One Thousand One Honda Indy car competing in the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series championship. Veach has raced in every step of the Mazda Road to Indy ladder with Andretti Autosport, including a career-best Indy Lights championship finish of third in 2014.

Risi Competizione and Keating Motorsports have announced a partnership for the 86th Annual 24 Hours of Le Mans race to be held June 16-17, 2018.
Giuseppe Risi and Ben Keating, both business owners and automotive dealers in the state of Texas with racing connections, have joined forces for this years' 24-hour race at the Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France. Risi is the Team Principal of Risi Competizione and owner of Ferrari of Houston and Ferrari of Woodlands. Keating is the owner of Viper Exchange and Keating Motorsports, along with many car dealerships in Texas as well.
Newman Wachs Racing Signs David Osborne to Rookie USF2000 Effort
Newman Wachs Racing is pleased to announce its third driver for the 2018 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda, confirming Cincinnati, Ohio's David Osborne. The 21-year-old has been hard at work developing his skills and racecraft in the F1600 series, before testing with NWR last October at the Chris Griffis Memorial test. Osborne will now join Newman Wachs Racing's two previously-confirmed drivers - Darren Keane and Oscar Deluzuriaga.
"David tested with us in October at Indy and I was impressed by the way he went about everything and with the speed that he produced by the end of the day," said Brian Halahan, NWR Team Manager. "Since then, we have had a chance to do two more test days and we've learned more of what he likes in the car and we have high expectations for him. IMSA Extends Homologation For Prototype, GTLM Classes

International Motor Sports Association officials confirmed that the homologation period for the cars in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Prototype class and GT Le Mans class have been extended.
The extension was made possible through the partnership between IMSA, the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile and the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, which organizes the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, respectively.
Under the new WEC Super Season format launching in 2018, the FIA extended current LMP2 and GTE Homologation periods to coincide with its new schedule format, which now will close with the season-ending 24 Hours of Le Mans event. Subsequent seasons will begin in the fall of one year and close at Le Mans the following year.

Yamaha's Motobot goals for 2017 are twofold: Achieve a straight-line speed of 200 kph (124 mph) and beat Valentino Rossi -- a seven-time MotoGP champion -- in a lap around a racetrack. The Sierra Club's new video attacks Ford for its polluting cars

In a videomade public Wednesday, the Sierra Club denounced Ford Motor Company for lobbying the Trump administration and “#PollutingPruitt” to roll back vehicle efficiency and and emission standards.
The environmental organization timed the airing of their new video with the D.C. Auto Show, at which Ford isn’t showing any electric vehicles despite claiming a commitment to sustainability, according to the Sierra Club.
