Brian Vickers Ruled Eligible For Sprint Unlimited Race
NASCAR has ruled that the no. 14 Chevrolet of Stewart-Haas Racing will be eligible for Saturday night's Sprint Unlimited race despite Tony Stewart not being in the driver's seat.
Stewart, who injured his back in an ATV accident on Jan. 31, will be replaced by driver Brian Vickers in both the Sprint Unlimited and season-opening Daytona 500 in Feb. 21
The Sprint Unlimited is a non-points event with eligibility tied to the driver, not the team, and Stewart made the field as a past winner of the event. Saturday night's race will mark Vickers sixth start in the event. His best finishes have a pair of eight-place showings in the 2007 and 2010 events when he was running for Red Bull Racing

That brings a smile from the folks involved with Daytona Rising, the $400 million “reimagining” of Daytona International Speedway. The multi-year expansion and refurbishing of stock car racing’s most famous speedway -- long self-identified as the “World Center of Racing” -- is complete, and the result has produced a list of positive reviews from motorsports heroes like Foyt to everyday race fans.

Tesla revenue spikes on Model S demand, but Q4 losses grow to $320M
Musk is selling a lot of his Model Ss, but Tesla is still bleeding cash
Tesla Motors Inc. set a record for deliveries in the fourth quarter as customers ignored sagging oil prices and bought the Model S sedan, the maker of all-electric luxury cars said Wednesday as it reported a net loss of $320 million, up from $108 million a year earlier.
In the first earnings report since the fall launch of the Model X crossover, Palo Alto, Calif.-based Tesla reported $1.2 billion in fourth-quarter revenue, according to generally accepted accounting principles. That represented a 30 percent increase over the third quarter and a 27 percent increase year-over-year.
Franchise Charter system favors the big boys of NASCAR At first glance, the losers in NASCAR's brand-spankin'-new charter scheme are one-car teams, back-marker operations and car owners whose drivers show up for races with little hope of winning.
Of course, few of those teams stand a chance at any track against the powerhouse teams of Sprint Cup. Sorry as it would seem, failure to run well in NASCAR's premier series is part of their expectations.
Conor Daly has been trying for three years to make it into Indy Car, trying anything to get a ride with a team. Finally, all that hard work has paid off and Daly will be driving full time for Dale Coyne Racing.
"It's not going to be easy at all," Daly said. "Yeah, it's a culmination of many years of gaining experience and working towards this, kind of all the pieces finally coming together. There were a lot of pieces, more than I thought. Finally, we figured out how to put the puzzle together and here we are. Massive thanks to Dale."

Strakka will initially run Nick Leventis as the Prestige Driver with Lewis Williamson as the Elite Driver with an eye to expand to offer seats to other aspiring drivers.
Foes of Boston Indy race say officials are bribing people IndyCar organizers offered “priority access” to the Labor Day weekend event’s musical acts to lure supporters to a potentially contentious public meeting in Fort Point, prompting accusations of an effort to “bribe” neighbors for support.
The post on the Grand Prix of Boston’s Facebook page has since been taken down and blamed on an overzealous employee. But it immediately irked race critics, who decried it as a bid to drown out the opposition at one of the first public meetings on the controversial high-speed car race that’s being planned for the Seaport District’s streets and tunnels.

Both off-track and on-track upgrade - Kentucky Speedway's general manager takes pride in knowing his facility is the only one on NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series schedule where the racing will fundamentally change in 2016.
A renovation project underway in Sparta, Ky., will do away with Kentucky Speedway's bumps. But by the time NASCAR returns in July, banking in Turns 1 and 2 will angle steeper than 3 and 4, keeping Mark Simendinger's 1.5-mile oval unique. So, yes, gone is the "Roughest Track in NASCAR" mantra.
Best cars and trucks for your money 2016 The best car, truck, SUV or minivan for you is the one that treats you as well as it treats your budget. The latest automotive bells and whistles are nice, but not when they’re attached to an overpriced car with high operating costs. On the other hand, a cheap car might sound appealing until you realize that you’ll be spending the next five years dealing with uncomfortable seats, a rough ride and the kind of engine that relegates you to the right lane.
