Jeff Olson Photo
As Indy car test sessions go, it was considered a thank you from a manufacturer. Judging from Ricky Taylor's smile after climbing out of Simon Pagenaud's car, he was quite welcome.

Taylor spent today testing the Team Penske No. 1 Chevrolet - the same car Pagenaud will drive in two weeks when the Verizon IndyCar Series season opens at St. Petersburg, Florida - around the Homestead-Miami Speedway road course in Homestead, Florida.

The test was considered a courtesy by Chevrolet and General Motors to Taylor for his seven wins in four years in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship - most notably his victory last month in a Cadillac prototype with Jeff Gordon, Max Angelelli and brother Jordan Taylor in the Rolex 24 At Daytona endurance race.

Pirelli taking 3500 tires to Barcelona test
Mercedes on Pirellis new wide tires
Mercedes on Pirellis new wide tires

Pirelli will bring more than 3500 tires to Barcelona for the first eight days of testing with the latest-generation 2017 cars (from February 27-March 2, then again from March 7-10).

Last year, Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari carried out a series of tests with mule cars from August to November: 2015 chassis that had been modified to simulate the increased downforce levels of the 2017 technical regulations. The other teams had full access to the data generated by the mule car tests, but for them the tests in Spain will be a very first taste of the new wider 2017 tires. At the front, the tires grow from 245mm to 305mm in width: at the back, they grow from 325mm to 405mm. The diameter of the wheel rims remains unchanged at 13 inches.

Video: Corvette Rolex Driver Change
With Corvette Racing at Sebring International Raceway today and tomorrow for a two-day IMSA test, it makes sense to look at one of the most critical - and sometimes overlooked - components to an endurance race: pit stops and driver changes.

For long-distance races such as the upcoming Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida, the execution of pit stops in the GT Le Mans class is paramount. Race victories come down to fractions of a second, and many of those are gained or lost in the pit lane during driver changes, fueling and tire changes.

Forbes ranks NASCAR's most valuable teams
Jimmie Johnson - Hendrick's money machine
Jimmie Johnson - Hendrick's money machine
A dozen years ago, few leagues could match the popularity of NASCAR, which boasted record-high viewership and was going toe-to-toe with the NFL. But then few leagues suffered worse during the economic crash. NASCAR watched as corporate sponsors fled the sport and fans tuned out by the million. Though the race series has bounced back in the years since, it's never returned to those pre-crash highs and some continuing negative trends have taken their toll: Team values are down this year, with the top ten worth an average $137 million, a 7% drop.

The top three teams are:
1. Hendrick Motorsports - Team Value $350 million, 2016 revenue $200 million
2. Joe Gibbs Racing - Team Value $225 million, 2016 revenue $135 million
3. Stewart-Haas Racing - Team Value $180 million, 2016 revenue $112 million Forbes

Norway aims to end sales of fuel-burning car by 2025 as EV market soars

The oil industry has to pump as much oil out of the ground now while they still have a market for it. At some point there will be minimal demand for it. Hence why AR1.com does not see oil prices ever skyrocketing again.
The global electric vehicle (EV) revolution reached another milestone last month as EVs made up 37 percent share of Norway's car market.

Norway understands the future of ground transport is electric and has been pushing EVs harder than almost any other country in the world with incentives such as an exemption from the 25 percent VAT tax for new cars.

In December, the country hit 100,000 zero-emission EVs on the road, and they are projected to quadruple to 400,000 by 2020. These numbers are especially remarkable for a country of only 5.2 million people. Over five percent of all of Norway's cars are EVs, up from one percent two years ago.

TRG Returns to Pirelli World Challenge
James Davison

In a bid to continue their success in the Pirelli World Challenge series, TRG will open the season with their Aston Martin program in St. Petersburg, Fla. with an old name but a new twist. The team will be reunited with Aussie standout and former TRG professional driver James Davison behind the wheel of the LaSalle Solutions 007 V12 Vantage competing for the overall win in the GT Class. This will be the season opener for Pirelli World Challenge and for TRG; after finishing on a high note winning the 2016 Team and Drivers’ Sprint-X GTS Championship with their Aston Martin V8 Vantage team and their Team Driver Max Riddle.

Davison, the Australian pro driver who delivered a remarkable 5 pole positions in a row in 2014/2015 in the GT3 is once again reunited with the team and the fierce V12 Vantage GT3 he drove so well. St. Petersburg’s beautiful oceanfront track boasts 14 turns winding along the sunny streets of the Florida shoreline. A peaceful atmosphere of fans sipping champagne on yachts moored between swaying harborside palm trees is broken by the roar of powerful sports cars barreling down the streets at over 160mph.
