All times shown are Eastern Time in the United States.

Stern: IndyCar faces media, title sponsor questions
The Verizon IndyCar Series is facing a crucial year on and off the track with several moves that will shape the sport’s future writes Adam Stern of Sports Business Daily.
The open-wheel series kicks off the 2018 season this weekend in St. Petersburg, Fla., as it debuts a new car kit developed in a bid to create better racing. But the league also is in the midst of media-rights negotiations and selling its series title sponsorship, with the new deals designed to start in 2019.
IndyCar wants to land a media-rights partner first in order to use that partner to help sell the open title sponsorship, which is being vacated by Verizon.
NASCAR turns to VaynerMedia to Help its Drivers Build Their Digital Brands
With TV ratings plummeting NASCAR needs to make drivers into heroes again
When it comes to building brands, no one might know how to do that better than entrepreneur and CEO of VaynerMedia, Gary Vaynerchuk.
Now, NASCAR is tapping the company that bears his namesake to help their drivers capitalize on a digital landscape that is turning famous YouTubers into millionaires and every mom with a food blog and a few thousand Instagram followers into a Betty Crocker brand endorser.
Although VaynerMedia went through the standard RFP process with NASCAR, their experience working with Anheuser-Busch on NASCAR related deliverables gave the association even more belief in what the agency could bring to the table.

Americans and Asians have an insatiable appetite for Cadillac SUVs
Cadillac sold 30,583 units globally in February 2018 – an increase of 42 percent from the same period last year – marking the 21st consecutive month of global sales growth for the brand. Consumer demand for the XT5 luxury crossover and the iconic Escalade helped drive February’s sales increase.
“February was a strong month for Cadillac, especially for our SUV portfolio where we saw continued growth with the Escalade despite new competition in the U.S. marketplace,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen. “We expect this enthusiasm to grow with the addition of the first-ever 2019 Cadillac XT4 premium compact SUV, which will be revealed later this month.”
For 5 years in a row now NASCAR has experienced a double digit drop in TV ratings across all networks, all races. This past weekend was no exception.
Social media is accelerating the plummet. It allows people to keep up with the action and not watch the race on TV at all, which kills because TV ratings are the lifeblood of sponsorship money in the paddock. At this rate Monster Energy will be able to renegotiate their title sponsor deal at pennies on the dollar, so the longer they wait the better for them.
