Team Chevy quotes after Day 1 of IndyCar testing

BIRMINGHAM – Team Chevy driver quotes following the first day of preseason testing of the new Chevrolet Aero Kit at Barber Motorsports Park.

AN INTERVIEW WITH SCOTT DIXON, NO. 9 TARGET CHIP GANASSI RACING CHEVROLET, FASTEST IN COMBINED SESSIONS WITH LAP OF 1:07:4805/122.702 m.p.h.: "It's great to be back in the Target car. We tested NOLA Saturday, we're here this weekend at Barber and then go back to NOLA next week for the final pre-season test heading into St. Petersburg. We had a decent start to the day today finishing second overall in the first session. The cars have more downforce now and are a lot more demanding to drive. Some of the corners here in the old cars were almost flat, and now they're flat out when you go through them. If this is any indication of the speeds, I think you will see a lot of track records broken this season. I think the new cars with the aero kits look cooler now and hope the fans will like the changes for this year's season."

F1 TV ratings plummet continues unabated
Even with a German driver (Rosberg) and German Engineering dominating, German race fans are so turned off by the current F1 engine formula they are leaving F1.  Even the German GP can't sell enough tickets to be profitable so the race is cancelled.
AR1.com has stated numerous times that the Mercedes parade and the horrible sounding engines was destroying F1.  The thrill is gone we stated many times.  Last year TV ratings began to plummet and this year is even worse.

German free-to-air TV channel RTL "was unable to stop F1 ratings' downward trend with its broadcast of the Sunday's season opener," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. The Australian Grand Prix, which started shortly after 6am, attracted an average of 1.72 million viewers. In comparison, last year's race from Melbourne's Albert Park recorded more than 3 million viewers.

The race's market share also declined, from 43.2% last year to 28.6% on Sunday. In the target demographic 14-49, the race, which was won by Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, obtained a market share of 34.9% and therefore seven percentage points less than in '14. The replay of the race at a more convenient time was watched by 1.63 million viewers. German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland, which also aired the season opener, obtained a market share of 6.7% in the target demographic. A total of 180,000 viewers tuned in to watch the race on Sky.

INDYCAR Tests On-Board Track Positioning LED Display System at Barber
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - This week at Barber Motorsports Park, INDYCAR is testing new technology that will track each car's position on the racetrack and display it in real time via a LED display panel on each side of the chassis. The series is targeting the implementation of the track positioning system, which will also display when a driver triggers the push-to-pass feature, for early in the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series season.

"This project started over a year ago in concept and it really is about how we can get fans more engaged, allow them to see more of what's going on," said INDYCAR president of competition and operations Derrick Walker. "If you're not in line of sight of a video screen or a scoring pylon, it's hard to know who's doing what. It was a natural to do the numbering system."

The 8-inch-wide by 7-inch-tall LED panels, which are only 3 millimeters thick, will be attached to either side of the airbox (below the cockpit camera mount) on each entry. Running order will be updated as the car crosses each of the multiple INDYCAR Timing & Scoring timelines around a racetrack.
