Ford's Axe Falls in Germany
After a fiscally damaging year that Ford CEO Jim Hackett implored employees to forget, cuts are coming to the automaker’s workforce, and America won’t be spared. But America can wait, as that region remains a major profit generator. Other regions aren’t, and the automaker’s axe has already fallen in South America.

Now it’s Germany’s turn, with Ford announcing the loss of “more than 5,000” workers in that country.

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing continued to control GTLM class race with the No. 67 and No. 66 Ford GTs setting a fierce pace at the head of the field.

In GT Daytona the #9 Porsche has now taken over as pitstops mixed things up.

The No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R continues to lead the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring with Pipo Derani at the wheel of the Whelen Engineering-backed car through the halfway point.

The race entered its second half under Full Course Caution after Jonathan Bomarito slid off track in the No. 55 Team Joest Mazda RT24-P DPi while running second.

The 12 Hours of Sebring started behind the pace car because a heavy rain showers that hit the Sebring, Florida airport circuit all morning. 

The first 40 minutes ran under the yellow behind the pace car but when the green flag dropped on the still wet track the the #5 Cadillac and #31 Cadillac blew off the pole winning #6 Penske Acura like it was standing still. The traction control of the Cadillac is said to be a better system than the Acuras.

The result? They all left so late that none made it around to take the green flag before the five-minute clock expired, which left none of the 12 with a final round qualifying speed. The field was set for Sunday based on Round 2 results.

Following Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway on Friday, NASCAR hints at possible changes for group qualifying in the near future.

Next month, he will test his Indy 500 chassis in Texas, but is not ruling out a return to F1 in 2020 if he achieves his goals this year.

UPDATE The cause of the fire that destroyed the entire fleet of electric motorcycles for the inaugural MotoE season at Jerez has been revealed by the series..

In a brief statement issued on Friday, the series revealed that the fire started as a result of a short circuit.

"Initial evidence regarding the cause of the fire at the E-paddock of the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto on March 14 seems to point to a short circuit as the main cause of the incident," it said.

Lewis Hamilton has plenty in hand when needed and when Sebastian Vettel went fastest in the final practice for the Australian GP, Lewis Hamilton simply went out and buried him in the superior Mercedes.

After dominating Friday practice by 8/10ths over the next-fastest team, Hamilton continued to stick it to his rivals in the third session on Saturday morning.

He went to the top of the times on his first flying lap and went straight back to the top when he got knocked down.
