Hendrick Motorsports has withdrawn its request to appeal the penalty issued to its No. 9 team following the March 11 race at Phoenix, according to NASCAR officials, meaning the team’s car chief will begin his two-week suspension this week.

According to the penalty report: Truck trailing arm spacer/pinion angle shim surfaces must be in complete contact at all points, at all times. NASCAR examining inspection procedure, penalties
Cheating has been ingrained in NASCAR since Day 1
Cheating has been ingrained in NASCAR since Day 1
NASCAR is examining what penalties to issue when teams don’t pass inspection before qualifying, will have a different inspection procedure this weekend at Martinsville and remains committed to inspecting cars at the R&D Center, a series official said Monday - the goal is to catch as many cheaters as they can.

Scott Miller, senior vice president of competition, made the comments on “The Morning Drive” on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Thirteen cars did not make a qualifying attempt Friday at Auto Club Speedway because they failed to pass inspection in time. Among the drivers who started at the rear in Sunday’s race because of that were Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Chase Elliott, Clint Bowyer, Aric Almirola, William Byron, Kasey Kahne, Daniel Suarez and Alex Bowman.

MotoGP, like F1, has proper TV deals
While MotoGP and F1 sign over 100 TV deals a year, IndyCar is lucky to sign one
While MotoGP and F1 sign over 100 TV deals a year, IndyCar is lucky to have one or two
IndyCar is looking to sign one new TV deal with NBC. One. Talk about totally missing the boat.

Much like Liberty Media and Formula 1, Dorna, the motorcycle racing series' managing body, in 2018 sees an expansion from 91 to 101 broadcasters around the world, and you can bet that all of them liked what they saw on Sunday.

The final laps of the race featured several passes among the top six riders, with the action surrounding Dovizioso, Marquez, and Valentino Rossi heating up as the laps wound down. In the end, it came down to the final corner on the final lap, when cameras struggled to differentiate between the Honda and Ducati riders because they were so close to each other that they looked like one motorcycle.

Toyota Drops Diesels
Toyota is dropping diesels but Mercedes is still willing to kill humans with its dirty diesels
Toyota is dropping diesels but Mercedes is still willing to kill humans with its dirty diesels
The diesel’s fall from grace in Europe, where it has long been a mainstay of the car market, has been quick in the aftermath of the Volkswagen diesel scandal. And last week at the Geneva auto show, Toyota also announced that it will be phasing out all diesel engines from its passenger-car lineup in Europe this year.

Demand for diesels in Europe is falling rapidly, slipping from about 50 percent of the passenger-car market in 2017 to about 44 percent this year and anticipated to fall to 30 percent in 2020. At Toyota, hybrids now make up 41 percent of sales across Europe and nearly 80 percent of sales for the C-HR crossover. Toyota said that the new generation of the Auris—the region’s version of the Corolla—will be offered only in hybrid and gasoline versions.

Did di Resta think IMSA was going to let European cars win?

The LMP2 teams will have to pray to god for a blessing

It will be a cold day in hell before the France Family, which owns IMSA, is going to let the European LMP2 cars beat their DPI cars.

Ex-Formula 1 driver di Resta, said IMSA must urgently address the disparity between the DPis and LMP2s.

"Overall a satisfying result - fifth, and on the lead lap, is a decent result taking into account that currently it is totally impossible to race against the DPi cars," he said.

"The Balance of Performance is an embarrassing waste of time - IMSA must get it sorted if they want teams from Europe to head here."
