Pagenaud says Paris different after terrorism
Simon Pagenaud
Simon Pagenaud
WIBC's Tony Katz spoke with Indycar driver Simon Pagenaud about the ever changing landscape of a world constantly under attack by terrorists.

Pagenaud - a native of France - discussed how Paris is different after the November, 2015 attacks that killed 130 people, and how Brussels is likely to see similar changes following Tuesday's attack.

"I know there's been a lot of concern.  I went to France over Christmas and was very surprised to see the lifestyles have changed a little bit.  There’s a lot less people going out for dinner.  There's a lot less activity on the streets in the evening.  People are just being a lot more careful.  You can't avoid traveling on the subway.  That's the way to travel in Paris because it's so difficult to travel by car, and it's scary.  I think what happened in Brussels today will make it even worse."

Penske against IndyCar overseas expansion
Penske wants to keep IndyCar small so he can continue to influence it and dominate it
Penske wants to keep IndyCar small so he can continue to influence it and, therefore, dominate it.
Despite regular rumors of races outside North America, including speculation over possible non-championship events, Penske told motorsports.com he believes the bigger priority for the Verizon IndyCar Series is to establish itself in this continent.

“Our sponsors, 95 percent of them, are U.S. domestic companies and if we’re going to give them the publicity, the notoriety and the business to business relationships they want to have, it’s hard to do it at Abu Dhabi and so on.

“I have no problem with us going to Canada and Mexico,” he clarified. “We used to have a great race at Vancouver, for example, and there are a lot of racing people in the northwest. And we’ve raced in Mexico, although I don’t know what the chances are of running there again.

Open Letter from Grand Prix Drivers
Dear Formula 1 stakeholders, followers and fans,

The Grand Prix drivers would like to state our following position: We drivers love our sport! Since childhood, we dreamed of racing the fastest race cars from the top teams on the coolest tracks against the best drivers in the world. We seek competition and love F1 almost unconditionally, which makes us most probably the people with the purest interest for Formula 1, beside our fans.

Formula 1 is currently challenged by a difficult global economic environment, a swift change in fan and consumer behaviour, and a decisive shift in the TV and media landscape. This makes it fundamental that the sport's leaders make smart and well considered adjustments.

Hillman suing Circle Sport over charter
A Sprint Cup team owner's lawsuit seeks the charter NASCAR granted his former partner. Hillman Racing, team owner Mike Hillman and partners Doug Fuller and Matt Miller filed suit Friday in North Carolina Superior Court in Iredell County against former partner Joe Falk, Circle Sport, Leavine Family Racing and Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing.

Hillman Racing and its partners seek a judgment in excess of $25,000, punitive damages, rights to ownership of the #33 team, its charter and all the profits and benefits that Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing's #95 car enjoys. Falk aligned with Leavine Family Racing before this season to form Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing. As part of the merger, the No. 95 was maintained but inherited the #33 team's points and performance, making it eligible for one of the 36 Sprint Cup charters NASCAR granted before the season.

Q and A with Marco Andretti
Marco Andretti
Marco Andretti
Marco Andretti, whose father, Michael, and grandfather, Mario, are among the best Indy-car drivers of all time with 94 victories between them, is in his 11th season in the Verizon IndyCar Series, the premier open-wheel racing series in the United States -- and maybe the world. He hasn't yet come close to fulfilling the expectations people have had of him because of his lineage. The 2016 season started last weekend, and Marco Andretti is the subject of this week's Q&A.

Q: Did you ever think that, in your 11th year, you'd still be looking for your third victory?

A: After my first year (one win and a second-place finish in the 2006, I thought I would have had three wins after my second year. That (wins) is what we're missing. We have a bunch of podiums, but we're not leading the important lap … the last lap. This series is very competitive.
