They should label the Chevy entries IndyCar1 and the Honda entries IndyCar2 like IMSA does for the United States Sports Car Series for LMP1 and LMP2.

Marquez and Pedrosa lead the timesheet on first day in Argentina
Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa showed great form on day one at the Argentine GP, topping the FP2 timesheet with the first and second best lap times, respectively. The Repsol Honda duo was separated by a mere 25 thousandths of a second. With Jack Miller and Cal Crutchlow finishing fourth and fifth, Honda riders occupied four of the five spots today.
Working with their crews on electronics and bike setup, Marquez and Pedrosa built on the positive work they had already carried out in the morning’s FP1 session. The afternoon was challenging, with greasy, slippery track conditions prompted by the soaring temperatures (33° C air, 55° ground) but the team made the most of the situation.
FP3 will commence tomorrow at 09:55 with weather forecast threatening rain.

Rosberg stays on top in FP2 as Mercedes 1-2 parade continues
Nico Rosberg maintains the edge on teammate Lewis Hamilton
Nico Rosberg maintains the edge on teammate Lewis Hamilton. As AR1 predicted before the season started, Mercedes has decided it's Rosberg's turn to win the title.

Nico Rosberg once again led a Mercedes AMG Petronas 1-2 in Free Practice 2 today in Bahrain. Jenson Button surprised placing a full second behind World Champion Lewis Hamilton. Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen rounded out the top-five.

At the back end of the field, it was a good session for the Manor team as Pascal Wehrlein placed 19th ahead of both Saubers.

Nico Rosberg

I couldn’t wait to get back in the car after a great weekend in Melbourne and I felt really good out there. It’s been an encouraging first day for the team. We were very quick on one lap and also on the longer runs, so I’m really looking forward to qualifying and the race. I like this track very much. The atmosphere is great and it looks really spectacular driving under the lights in the evening. It should be an exciting weekend!

Mercedes F1 teams oppose faster cars for 2017
Has Toto Wolff told his customer teams to oppose the 2017 proposed regulations so nothing upsets the Mercedes locked in advantage?
Has Toto Wolff told his customer teams to oppose the 2017 proposed regulations so nothing upsets the Mercedes locked in advantage?
(GMM) Almost every team in pitlane is now opposed to the plan to speed up the cars with more downforce in 2017.

Although designers are already turning their minds to what are expected to be vastly different regulations next year, Auto Motor und Sport revealed on Friday that eight of the eleven teams are actually opposed.

An April 30 deadline has been set for finalization of the new rules, to feature wider cars and tires and bigger diffusers and wings for a laptime boost of several seconds.

But we reported this week that there is now some uncertainty, and not just because of the delay in the release of wind tunnel tyros by Pirelli, who are yet to sign an actual contract for 2017 and beyond with the governing FIA.

Roger Penske
Roger Penske
Punching cars creates headaches for dealerships and customers, Penske Automotive Group Chairman Roger Penske says.

But it’s a problem that can be solved, Penske told the Automotive News Retail Forum at the Encore Las Vegas Thursday.

“We’ve got to look at the mix of cars that we have, and we’ve got to look at this market,” Penske said. “China got cold, and [manufacturers are] trying to move all this inventory, and there’s pressure in the U.S.”

Tesla Model 3 will sell for $35K and go 0-60 mph in under 6-seconds

Suggesting there may be significant pent-up demand for an affordable electric car with decent range, Tesla Motors revealed the design of its $35,000-and-up Model 3 during a invitation-only event late Thursday.

The unveiling took place after a day of anticipation during which thousands of people waited in line at Tesla showrooms to place $1,000 deposits on the car, sight unseen.

More than 115,000 people made reservations for the Model 3 within the past 24 hours, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said at Tesla’s design studio in Hawthorne, Calif., as he revealed the Model 3, with an aerodynamic, genre-bending design somewhere between sedan and hatchback and a huge, tablet-like screen between the front seats.
