Will Musk's next move be lighter fluid on the Tesla Dumpster Fire? (Update)
Will Elon Musk make the rest of the auto industry look like idiots, or is he blowing smoke up everyone's posterior?
Will Elon Musk make the rest of the auto industry look like idiots, or is he blowing smoke up everyone's posterior?

UPDATE Michael Liedtke and Tom Krisher, AP write, Tesla CEO Elon Musk appears poised to transform the company’s electric cars into driverless vehicles in a risky bid to realize a bold vision that he has been floating for years.

The technology required to make that quantum leap is scheduled to be shown off to Tesla investors Monday at the company’s Palo Alto, California, headquarters.

Musk, known for his swagger as well as his smarts, is so certain that Tesla will win the race toward full autonomy that he indicated in an interview earlier this month that his company’s cars should be able to navigate congested highways and city streets without a human behind the wheel by no later than next year.

In this rumor, Ford is contemplating an IMSA DPi 2.0 or a WEC hypercar program in 2022. Until then Ganassi hopes to keep running the Ford GTs to keep his sportscar program together until Ford makes a decision.

During a wide-ranging interview with Motorsport.com , Ganassi stated that he would prefer to continue with Ford, but his sportscar team’s future is not contingent on extending that partnership.

Ever time Ghosn opens his mouth to express that he was framed, the Japanese authorities indict him for something else
Lawyers for former Nissan Motor Co. Chairman Carlos Ghosn are asking a Japanese court to release the executive on bail after prosecutors levied yet another criminal charge against him as the Japanese automaker moved to reject deeper integration with its partner Renault.

Japanese authorities indicted Ghosn Monday on a charge of aggravated breach of trust. This is the fourth allegation against Ghosn since he was arrested in November 2018 at a Tokyo airport.

The new indictment charges Ghosn with diverting two separate payments of $5 million from Nissan through a dealership in Oman controlled by a friend of Ghosn. One of those $5 million payments was then transferred to an account to which Ghosn had access, the indictment alleges.

Ayrton Senna Footwork Heel & Toe BIGFOOT video
Ayrton Senna
Ayrton Senna
MaxxUK writes: I don't usually post other videos but this one has always annoyed me in that it has generally been VERY poor visual quality, the footcam although easy to see is not in the same focal range as the steering wheel/track and the sound has always been off. I found a decent quality version of the video, reprocessed creating a "BigFoot" video and also sync'd the sound. So now we can truly see the master at work in what is now the best example of his footwork in action. The "BigFoot" video is nothing new, I often do bigfoot videos for my clients to focus more on the footwork and so when they view the whole video (windscreen view with steering movement) they can really see what the feet are doing as well. This is crucial as the pedals and the steering wheel are used to adjust the weight balance of the car, their secondary role, in the case of steering is to steer the car, the pedals to accelerate and brake BUT they are used to STEER the car also. Watch and see if you can see Ayrton doing this in an Acura NSX around Suzuka with Loafers on his feet.

Cars go through a tech inspection before every race. The Mustang looks to be a tad narrower than the other Cup cars (Getty Images)

NASCAR will be giving fans a sneak peek into its future at this year’s all-star race at Charlotte Motor Speedway by modifying the cars with two features that may be incorporated into the all-new Gen-7 models currently under development for 2021 writes Gary Gastelu/Fox News. NASCAR often uses the non-points event to test out new rules before incorporating them into the series.

This time around, the Cup cars will be equipped with a single-piece front splitter and radiator pan combination designed to tweak the aerodynamics to make them more consistent to drive in traffic, along with a radiator vent exiting the hood that is aimed at creating downforce parity across all of the vehicles and improving engine cooling.

Bloomberg Bombshell: Electric Cars to be cheaper than ICE cars in 3 years
THE BATTERIES' SHARE OF AN EV COST. CREDIT: BNEF

Batteries have been getting smaller and cheaper so much faster than expected that the experts at Bloomberg NEF (BNEF) have had to revise their own projections for electric vehicles every year.

BNEF projected in 2017 that “the crossover point when electric vehicles will be cheaper upfront than a combustion vehicle” would be 2026 (nine years), BNEF energy analyst Nathaniel Bullard tweeted last week.

But things have changed quickly since then and the timeframe has narrowed significantly: in 2018, it was 2024 (six years), and now, in 2019, BNEF projects the crossover point will be 2022 -- just three years away.
