Costly decision by Zak Brown and company to drop Honda for Renault. Not only is the Honda now a better engine, McLaren is out a lot of money
Revenue at McLaren accelerated 44% to a record $1.7B last year despite a "decline in the fortunes" of its F1 team.

According to the group’s financial statements for '18, its growth "was fueled by a 44.6% surge in sales of its supercars."

McLaren's automotive division recorded revenue of $1.4B compared to the $173.2M made by its F1 team.

The team’s revenue was down 36.5% due to the loss of funding from Japanese automaker Honda, which supplied McLaren's engines until the start of last year. FORBES,

Craig Lowndes says it is a no-win situation
Aerodynamic parity adjustments to the Ford Mustang were the product of a no-win situation for Supercars, according to Craig Lowndes.

Ford’s latest Supercar weapon has been at the center of the debate after a flying start to the campaign that has created unrest in the paddock and triggered an in-depth parity investigation carried out by the series and external partner D2H Engineering.

Fuel & engine oil 'crucial' to Aston Martin Red Bull Racing victories
Horner and wife Geri
Horner and wife Geri
Formula One is a competitive environment where even the smallest detail can be the difference between reaching the top step of the podium and missing out on points. It means strong partnerships are important to success, with ExxonMobil playing a key role in Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s recent form, which includes seven Grands Prix victories in two seasons, as Team Principal Christian Horner explains…

ExxonMobil and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing joined forces ahead of the 2017 Formula One season. How important is a Formula One team’s fuel and lubricants supplier to their success?

They have been extremely important. Ever since we entered into this partnership with ExxonMobil, the level of technical expertise has been clear to see. That’s been particularly evident since changing engine supplier to Honda for this season. Fuel & lubricant development plays such a key role with these hybrid engines and we are seeing great progress being made as the two companies work collaboratively.

Mercedes CLA Coupe

Mercedes-Benz is coupling sales release of the new CLA Coupe with an emotively appealing film which is being shown below. The five-minute film tells a story of youth and adulthood, of fitting in and non-conformity. In a fictitious inner dialog a young adult looks back at the dreams and desires of their younger self. "Play by your rules." is, appropriately, also the slogan for the new CLA Coupe. Beyond the campaign itself the Mercedes-Benz brand wants to encourage people to follow their inner voice and do the important things in life in their own individual way.

Once banished from motorsports, some major tobacco companies have quietly re-emerged as sponsors in recent months, promoting smoking alternatives such as vapor products and campaigns that highlight their move away from traditional cigarettes altogether writes Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal.

Companies such as R.J. Reynolds used to be among the biggest financial backers across the world’s most popular forms of racing, capitalizing on a lack of rules for tobacco promotion in those sports. However, federal law eventually forced tobacco companies to stop advertising, largely under terms of the Master Settlement Agreement that was passed in the U.S. in 1998.

But due to the rising popularity of new-age tobacco and vapor products, the decision by some major tobacco companies to launch brand campaigns about their bids to re-invent themselves, and the lack of ad restrictions around e-cigarettes, the category has grown significantly in motorsports over the past year.
