The new NASCAR wrench

NASCAR is thinking about possibly switching to metric bolts so they are going to need this new wrench during the transition.

It would go with their new metric hammers.

We thought you might get a chuckle.

An Interview With Mario Andretti
1969 Indy 500 Photo
1969 Indy 500 Photo
by Maury Brown/Forbes

It’s hard to describe how big an icon in racing Mario Andretti is. Years after retiring, he is still seen as one of racing’s most visible and notable drivers. In his early career where America and the world was transfixed by television that had just three channels, millions knew of him as a household name, and became synonymous with winning. Mario, along with Dan Gurney, are the only two drivers to have won races in Formula One, IndyCar, World Sportscar Championship and NASCAR. But Mario is the only driver to win the Indianapolis 500 (1969), the Daytona 500 (1967), and was the last American to win a Formula One race (Dutch Grand Prix in 1978) in the year he won the F1 championship. He continues to be revered, not only in racing, but pop culture. Rocker, popper, or rapper, Mario has been part of the lyrics of more than a few songs.

Lack of attention to details makes IndyCar look bad to general public
The photo seen around the world

Official IndyCar finish Photo
Editor's Note
: Why does IndyCar allow themselves to get egg on their face with a finish photo as shown to right with zero, count them zero, fans in the grandstands for the finish of Saturday's GP of Indianapolis.

Despite what was a great race, this photo went out over many wire services and what did anyone looking at it think? That's right, IndyCar is a complete loser series.

If no fans want to sit by S/F then by all means make those seats free of charge so the finish photo in future years does not result in egg on IndyCar's face. Do some sort of ticket giveaway with Speedway Service Stations. Something. Anything. Note to Doug Boles: This is not rocket science.

The temperature was a mild 17 degrees, but things quickly heated up following a dramatic Lap 1 that saw Daruvala start well from the front row to take P1 from Kari off the grid as Vips dropped from third to fifth behind Marcus Armstrong and Max Fewtrell. Therefore drama further back at Turn 1 with Ye Yifei and Artem Petrov making contact. Patricio O'Ward will be testing an F1 car soon. IndyCar will soon lose their biggest hope for a Mexican Superstar

After ruining Alexander Rossi's race by running into the back of him at the start, Patricio O’Ward recorded the fastest lap of the INDYCAR Grand Prix this afternoon and finished 19th overall in tricky conditions during the fifth round of the 2019 NTT IndyCar Series.

O’Ward was immediately presented with challenges after struggling with an alternator issue halfway through the second practice that forced Carlin to address the issue - resulting in losing the second half of the session. Making up for lost laps in qualifying, the 20-year-old narrowly missed making it through to the next round of qualifying and had to settle for starting from 19th place on the grid. A final warm-up took place before the race this morning where the alternator issue came back and prevented the No. 31 Carlin Chevrolet from ever leaving the pit lane.

Saturday Pre-race from the IndyCar Grand Prix
It's probably gonna be a wet 2019 IndyCar Grand Prix.  The rain has tried to start a couple of times in the last hour, the skies are dark grey, and the radar screen has a glob of angry guacamole to our west moving this way. IndyCar has already said that it will change the pre-race grid to leave the cars on pit road in case the rains hit before the rain starts (and the crews need to change tires). In a piece of IndyCar trivia, IndyCar reminds us that if 3 or more teams switch to wet tires then the regular "dry" tire rules won't apply.
