Video: The untold story of Indy '65 Fifty years ago - on May 31, 1965 - Memorial Day in the USA - Jim Clark secured the first half of his historic achievement with Team Lotus. In becoming the first "Foreigner" to win at Indy since Dario Resta in 1916 - and the first to win in a rear-engined car - Clark set the scene for a double-whammy that will never be repeated.
Clark would go on to secure the F1 World Championship that same year with a stunning series of wins but in May, 50 years ago, all his focus was on Indy - on rocking the establishment and changing the way the Americans went racing.

Sauber, Force India Unhappy With Engine Agreements, Send Letter To FIA
Sauber and Force India have written a joint letter to Formula One CEO Bernie Ecclestone and the FIA, outlining the team's "doubts over the recently concluded engine agreement," according to Adam Cooper of MOTORSPORT.
Although the agreement was "designed in part to give smaller teams lower engine prices in the future, it's understood that the two teams feel that not enough help has been offered."
In addition, "there are believed to be some questions about the process that led to the agreement being ratified."
Nice idea but they are wasting their time. Internal Combustion engines will be replaced by electric motors in the years to come - zero pollution, superior performance and longevity.
Our objective with the 5-stroke engine is to develop a gasoline engine with fuel consumption and emission levels comparable to that of current diesel engines, without the serious problem of particulate and NOx emissions that plague diesels.
The engine concept, which was invented by Gerhard Schmitz, has been developed by Ilmor into a working engine using a rapid prototype cast cylinder head, a machined from solid cylinder block and separate electrically powered oil and water pumps. Two overhead camshafts operate the conventional coil spring valvegear with the HP camshaft running at 0.5 x crank speed and the LP camshaft running at 1 x crank speed. The engine is also turbocharged to increase the engine rating.

O'Connell (Flowery Branch, Ga.) is returning to CTMP where in 2015 he swept both GT races in a backup Cadillac ATS-V.R Coupe race car. The Georgian has a lot of history at the 2.4-mile, 10-turn undulating road course located northwest of Toronto. O'Connell has one win so far this season at the Circuit of the Americas in March. Teammate Cooper (Syosset, N.Y.) got his first GT win at the last race at Barber Motorsport Park. The New Yorker counts CTMP as one of his favorite tracks.
Kyle Busch To Run Throwback Scheme For Joe Gibbs Racing's 25th Anniversary
Kyle Busch will run this car in the Southern 500 at Darlington
Kyle Busch will roll into the Bojangles Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway on Sept. 4 sporting a special throwback paint scheme on his no. 18 Toyota Camry to commemorate Joe Gibbs Racing’s 25th Anniversary.
The special retro look will be a throwback to JGR’s first Interstate Batteries-sponsored racecar that made its debut in the Cup Series back in 1992 with future Hall of Fame driver Dale Jarrett behind the wheel.
Jarrett scored the team’s first win in the car just one year into the team’s inception, winning the 1993 Daytona 500.
"This one's a lot more special because it's the 25th anniversary scheme of Joe Gibbs Racing and being able to come back and race that at Darlington is going to be a lot of fun," said Busch. "I'm hoping for a good weekend, and one that we can reminisce a little bit about how Dale Jarrett won the Daytona 500 in this scheme and Kyle Busch also won the Southern 500 in this scheme. So it'll be pretty cool."
