Pocono to install video screen towers
Pocono Raceway announced two new video screen towers will be installed at the track. Each tower will feature two high-definition quality video screens to provide all fans with new visuals of live action, entertainment, real-time statistics, and fan engagement. Toyota NSCS Pocono Post-Qualifying Notes & Quotes
Carl Edwards
CARL EDWARDS, No. 19 ARRIS Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Starting Position:  2nd

How strong was the car in qualifying?

"It's nice to have three shots at it – this place has always been tough for me the first time out. We get to run the first run, work on it a little bit, second run and work on it and for me, that was the best run that we had all day. I was real proud of my guys and everybody worked together really well. My plan with Denny (Hamlin) almost worked out perfectly, but he didn't spin early enough to keep Kurt (Busch) from getting me. It was good – the car is fast. This is fun. Hopefully, we can get a good pit stall, good starting spot and hold off these guys on the restarts."

Q and A with Dale Jr.
Dale Jr.
Dale Jr.
DALE EARNHARDT, JR., NO. 88 NATIONWIDE CHEVROLET SS, met with members of the media at Pocono Raceway and discussed going for three consecutive wins at the ‘Tricky Triangle’, last week’s driver’s council, his relationship with Greg Ives and many other topics.  Full Transcript:

WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE TO REPEAT A SWEEP AT POCONO?
“Well we won those two races by having some great pit strategy.  Steve (Letarte) got real aggressive on his pit calls and I think that is definitely going to be what is going to put you in position to win.  You kind of call this race in reverse.  The tire is pretty tough here and durable.  There is not a whole lot of fall off.  You can call the race sort of like a road course in reverse and put yourself up toward the front like we did last year.  It makes it pretty difficult to get around you if you have a good car.  I mean we were able to pass some guys that tried to get more aggressive than we were.  Everything has kind of got to fall in the right place and allow you to make those choices.  It worked out great for us last year.  We also had a fast car.  We ran pretty well.  There were about eight of us I think in either one of those races that could have won.”

Graham Rahal: Pack racing 'like life and death'
Atlanta 2001: The IRL had many spectacular 'pack racing' accidents like this. Dan Wheldon was killed by a 'pack racing' accident.  Will they ever learn?
Want a driver's perspective on why IndyCar pack racing at tracks like Texas Motor Speedway is so treacherous? Try this from Graham Rahal.

"It feels to a driver like every move you make is life or death, and that's not fun," he said Friday. "When you get in those situations and all the time you're worried about something going wrong.

Rahal said IndyCar racing doesn't need to be like NASCAR.

"Is a good race a guy taking the most amount of luck and him winning in pack racing, or is good racing someone driving the wheels off the damn thing and winning the race? It depends on what you consider good," he said.

"I don't think you need to be on top of each other. People watch NASCAR races every weekend and most of the time there's not a lot of passing there, too. It just depends on what you're looking for." Curt Cavin/Indy Star

Hunter-Reay crashes at Texas, car stays on ground
As recommended by AR1.com weeks ago, the rear of the IndyCar Butt Bumpers are now sealed off as seen here on Will Power's car.
Taking the advice of AR1.com, who correctly identified the problem of the flying Chevys at Indy as being the design of the Butt Bumpers and the lift they provided when the car got backwards, IndyCar sealed off the back of the wheel guards (Butt Bumpers) and so far they are working.

Ryan Hunter-Reay crashed Friday in the first IndyCar Series practice at Texas since changes were made to keep the cars from going airborne.

Hunter-Reay was OK and his car stayed on the ground even though the car went backwards thru the air for a portion of the crash. The left rear of Hunter-Reay's No. 27 Honda hit the outside wall before the car settled on the bottom of the high-banked, high-speed 1½-mile track.

IndyCar TV ratings dropping in 2015
The NBC Sports network TV ratings have been down for 2015 and ABC has been a mixed bag, but down overall. The conclusion is that the series is shrinking and not growing, an ominous sign.

The final ratings are in from last weekend. ABC drew 1.16 million viewers for the second race of the Verizon IndyCar Series Chevy Dual in Detroit on Sunday, while Saturday's first race drew 845,000 viewers. Those races marked the last IndyCar telecasts scheduled for ABC this season. Sunday's audience was up from 1.0 million viewers last year, while Saturday was down from 1.39 million viewers. Despite an increase for the Indianapolis 500 this year, ABC's five IndyCar races this season saw a 20% viewership drop compared to '14 (1.94 million viewers vs. 2.42 million viewers)

Leimer seeks sponsors for 2015 race debut
(GMM)  Manor has let Fabio Leimer put his "foot in the formula one door", the 2013 GP2 champion said in Montreal.

Swiss Leimer, 26, is determined to become the first champion of the feeder series to secure a place on the grand prix grid since 2011's Romain Grosjean.

In 2012 and 2014 respectively, champions Davide Valsecchi and Jolyon Palmer both tried and failed.

2013 champion Leimer also looked to have failed, after his backer Rainer Gantenbein offered a low two-digit million sum around the F1 paddock but could not secure a seat for his charge.

Vettel unconcerned by 'tell all' Webber book
(GMM)  Sebastian Vettel says he is not concerned even though former teammate Mark Webber is preparing to 'tell all' in a forthcoming autobiography.

Australian Webber's book, called 'Aussie Grit' and set to be first published in July, will reportedly go into typically forthright detail as to what went on behind the scenes when the pair famously clashed as Red Bull teammates.

But, speaking in Montreal, Vettel said the pair actually gets on much better than what is publicly perceived.

Conor Daly Back On The Sidelines - now What?
It's not a sport when athletes have to buy their way in
American Conor Daly was bitterly disappointed after his car failure at the Indianapolis 500 but one week later he turned many heads with his impressive performances in both races in Detroit.

In the most difficult of conditions, Daly was mistake free and had himself in position to go for the win in race two, until multiple yellow cautions worked against their pit stop strategy. Having led for 12 laps, Daly finished sixth.

Daly recently talked about his misfortune at Indianapolis as well as his successful weekend in Detroit.

Question: How disappointed were you when your car caught fire on the warm up lap of the Indy 500?

KVRT/KVSH Firestone 600 Preview
Stefano Coletti
STEFANO COLETTI
NO. 4 KV RACING TECHNOLOGY CHEVROLET/DALLARA/FIRESTONE

"I am looking forward to getting back to an oval. I had never been on one until Indianapolis a few weeks ago and after I had got used to it, I had a lot of fun. Texas will be different though with some big banking, so I will have a lot to learn. I will need to try and get as many laps in as I can and see how it goes, but I always like a challenge. After everything the people in Texas have gone through over the last few weeks, I hope we can put on a good show and that my thoughts are with those that have lost someone and/or their homes in these terrible times."

Coletti sits 20th in the standings with 104 points.

Bryan Herta Autosport Firestone 600 Preview

Indianapolis –After a wet and cool weekend in Detroit, the Verizon IndyCar Series will head to the hot and dry Texas Motor Speedway for the Firestone 600(k) on Saturday night. BHA won the pole there in 2012, but this will be the first visit to the 1.5mile D-shaped high-banked oval for Gabby Chaves.

Texas has been on the Indycar schedule since 1997 and provided some of the closest and most exciting races on the schedule. Since the introduction of the Dallara DW12 in 2012, the field has spread out somewhat due to aerodynamics changes.  2015 will be the first time the teams of Indycar contest Texas with the manufacturer developed "aero-kits".

Darrell Waltrip Says Drivers' Dislike Of NASCAR Rules Package Led To Formation Of Council
NASCAR HOFer and longtime Fox analyst Darrell Waltrip believes that drivers' dislike of the current rules package is what "led to the creation of a driver's council," according to Jenna Fryer of the AP. Waltrip: "We've never had what we'd call a 'council' before ... NASCAR was never too open to meeting with a group of people, but had been willing to meet one-on-one."

Waltrip "is certain that a push for better racing is behind the drivers' decision to present a unified front to NASCAR." He said, "There is a lot of unrest in the sport currently, and I think that's why NASCAR is listening. Hopefully, they'll take drivers' input and make some better decisions. What we all want ... is good racing and action on the track." AP

IndyCar's Boston Grand Prix will drive progress
Boston economic development chief John Barros (R) with Mark Perrone
Boston economic development chief John Barros said next year's Grand Prix in the Seaport District and the 2024 Olympic bid both can be development drivers - even in the planning stages - regardless of whether the city gets the games.

"We think that Boston is a world class city and deserves a world class stage," Barros said on Boston Herald Radio yesterday. "So in many ways the Grand Prix, like the Olympics, provides that kind of a venue, that kind of an event, that kind of an opportunity to say, ‘Hey, look at Boston, we're a great city, come and spend your money here, come and bring your businesses here, come and get talent here. Boston has a lot to showcase. We feel in that way the Olympics and the Grand Prix are related."

Impressive Returns for Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, Despite Weather Challenges
With the final results in, the numbers reveal that the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix weathered the storm last weekend – literally.

Amid one of the worst weather weekends in recent memory in Detroit, the Grand Prix still produced solid returns both in television ratings and viewership, through social media and even in the grandstands, though attendance numbers were certainly down from previous years due to the challenging conditions.

On television, fans were certainly excited to see how the cars of the Verizon IndyCar Series would handle the fast and physical 2.35-mile Raceway at Belle Isle Park street circuit in wet conditions over the Saturday and Sunday races in the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit presented by Quicken Loans.

To cover ass, Chevy still won't admit they blew it
[Editor's Note: In the following story Chevrolet's IndyCar program manager Chris Berube just won't admit that the interior design of their Butt Bumpers (Rear Wheel Guards) caused their cars to fly at Indy. All the excuses he makes have happened in the past. Yes an IndyCar will get airborne if air get underneath it. And can have always had rear wings and underbody tunnels. And cars have always hit walls and turned backwards.  Blah, blah blah. The primary difference now is their large Butt Bumpers and the way they were designed. Period. So as you read below know that it's all a smokescreen to deflect liability. Will IndyCars never set sail again? Of course they will. But not with the ease at which the Chevys set sail at Indy in 2015.]

Chevrolet's IndyCar program manager Chris Berube has warned that it would be wrong to believe aero changes made by IndyCar following the Indianapolis 500 will eliminate the possibility of cars getting airborne in accidents.
