Claire Williams
Claire Williams
The history of women in Formula 1 "is a short one," according to Kate Walker of the N.Y. TIMES.

For decades, it has been a "man’s sport." But out of the cockpit, "things are beginning to change."

Monisha Kaltenborn became the sport’s first female team principal when she ran the Sauber team. Although she stepped down last month, behind her is a "rising generation of female talent."

Rosenqvist to test IndyCar with Ganassi (2nd Update)
Felix Rosenqvist is a major talent
Felix Rosenqvist is a major talent

UPDATE The Ganassi IndyCar team will give Formula E racer Felix Rosenqvist another test outing at Mid-Ohio this week, alongside championship leader Scott Dixon, Autosport reports. Ex-Formula 1 and Indycar driver Stefan Johansson, who manages both Dixon and Rosenqvist, could not be reached for comment, and the Ganassi team was also tight-lipped over the plan for Thursday's test.

07/22/16  Indy Lights multiple-race winner Felix Rosenqvist got his first taste of IndyCar power and downforce at Mid-Ohio on Thursday as he split the test day with Scott Dixon in the No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Chevy. According to multiple racer.com sources, the 24-year-old set the fastest unofficial lap among the first-time Verizon IndyCar Series drivers during his morning outing.

Team Penske's Will Power is said to have led that morning sessions with a lap of 1m04.5sec around the 2.3-mile road course in the No. 12 Chevy. Penske teammates Helio Castroneves and Simon Pagenaud followed Power in second and third and Rosenqvist was fourth with a 1m04.8sec lap.

IndyCar Toronto TV Rating
The Honda IndyCar Toronto race earned a 0.16 overnight (i.e. much worse than an infomercial) and the re-air and NBCSN earned a 0.33. As AR1.com has stated repeatedly for the last 9 years. as long as IndyCar races are on NBCSN with ratings like that, existing sponsors will leave the paddock (not renew with teams) and potential new sponsors will laugh at teams when they go looking for sponsorship.

Sponsors WILL NOT look at you unless you are bringing in at least 1-million viewers per broadcast. That will NEVER happen on NBCSN. 100% of IndyCar races MUST be moved to network TV on ABC, NBC, or half and half like NASCAR does with FOX and NBC.

Verstappen accuses Vettel of "playing bumper cars"
Verstappen blocked the much faster Vettel everyway he knew how
Verstappen blocked the much faster Vettel every way he knew how
Sebastian Vettel accused Max Verstappen of “jumpy” driving as their on-track tensions spilled over on Sunday into a memorable wheel-to-wheel tussle.

Ever since last year’s Mexican Grand Prix, where the Ferrari driver angrily confronted the Dutch prodigy about a mid-race scrap, the two have had a testy relationship, and it flared again at Silverstone in a battle that almost took both of them out of the race. “I think he wants to play bumper cars,” Verstappen said over Red Bull’s team radio.

At DTM's midpoint: Audi in top spot three times
Audi leads DTM
Audi leads DTM

Audi is currently ranking at the top of the standings in all three DTM classifications. In the rounds at Moscow Raceway this weekend, the brand is primarily aiming to extend this advantage. Audi, BMW and Mercedes have each decided the previous six DTM races near the Russian capital in their favor on two occasions.

Mattias Ekstrom is traveling to Russia as the leader of the DTM drivers' classification. For the first time since summer 2015, the Swede is leading the DTM standings again. After having won the FIA World Rallycross Championship last year, the Audi campaigner continues to have good chances of winning his third DTM title this season. "The best are still close together and there are no clear favorites yet,” says the 2004 and 2007 DTM Champion. "From now on, the circle of candidates for the title will be getting smaller with each race and I'm hoping to be part of it up until the end.”

Musk: more than half of new vehicles will be electric and almost all autonomous in the US within 10 years
Elon Musk
Elon Musk

We have recently seen several projections about the adoption of electric vehicles from different companies and research groups, like Morgan Stanley, Bloomberg, and even OPEC. Most of them predict that about half of new vehicle production will be electric at some point between 2035 and 2040.

Now Tesla CEO Elon Musk jumps in with his own prediction, which is unsurprisingly much more aggressive.

One of the world's biggest banks is betting that all new cars in Europe will be electric by 2035
The internal combustion engine has had a long run, but its days have been numbered for a while now. A recent survey from Dutch bank ING has pegged the year 2035 as the point when battery-powered cars will slay the gasoline engine for good.

Sales of electric vehicles have been slowly growing in Europe and the US, and are surging in China—in 2016, China registered as many as 352,000 new e-cars, compared to only 159,000 registered in the US during the same time period.

It is a sunny day in Toronto, Ontario. Today should be in the high 70s with no rain predicted. The downtown area was covered by a thin layer of fog this morning, that should burn off quickly today. Now race day might be another story.

The streets of Exhibition Place are tough on an IndyCar. Sharing the track this weekend is the Canadian arm of NASCAR, the NASCAR Pinty's Series. This series was formed when NASCAR purchased the old CASCAR series here in Canada in 2008. Veteran Canadian drivers compete in the series part-time for fun while maintaining full time careers, while others are serious championship contenders.
