McLaren wants Alonso for full Indycar season
McLaren wants Alonso in 2020 full-time IndyCar effort
McLaren wants Alonso in 2020 full-time IndyCar effort but Alonso won't race in a series with such low TV ratings

(GMM) Zak Brown says there will be a seat for Fernando Alonso if McLaren does the full Indycar calendar next year.

The McLaren supremo denied that the British team's relationship with Alonso soured after the Indy 500 debacle of 2019.

Those rumors only gained strength when McLaren announced recently that Sergey Sirotkin, not Alonso, is actually the 2019 F1 reserve.

"I think the way we announced it was wrong, because our relationship has not changed either commercially or contractually," Brown told Marca sports newspaper.

The mental midgets of F1 will likely implement refueling under pressure again, instead of gravity like all other race series, resulting in fires like this.
(GMM) F1 is still discussing the potential return of refuelling for 2020.

Grosjean lays out four points the drivers want addressed. They are already addressed in IndyCar who would be glad to have them

A recent meeting about the 2021 rules was attended by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Hulkenberg. And on Tuesday in Geneva, Sebastian Vettel and Romain Grosjean were there to similarly represent the now-united Grand Prix Drivers' Association.

"We have four main points that we want to address," Grosjean is quoted by France's Auto Hebdo.

"They are tires, aerodynamics, the weight of the cars and the disparity of income between the teams. If we solve those four points, the competition will be very beautiful," the Frenchman smiled.

Renault to be first to test 18 inch tires

(GMM) Renault will be the first F1 team to test Pirelli's 18 inch tires for 2021.

Earlier, the top teams agreed informally that testing of the low-profile tires should be delayed until next year. But then Renault asked Pirelli if it could be the first to test in 2019.

That test will take place in October, to be followed by Mercedes and McLaren.

"Honestly, I didn't know," Renault driver Nico Hulkenberg said at Hockenheim.

But Hulkenberg did play down suggestions that the head-start for Renault will be an advantage for the French team ahead of 2021.
