SD Speedway/Event Center Auction Set for Sept 15 (Update)
Badlands from the air
UPDATE This article gives more background about what happened to Badlands. Basically when interest rates got capped on his payday loan center Chuck Brennan shut down all his South Dakota businesses, including the track. This is what happens when politicians try to over regulate. They end up cutting off their nose to spite their face and the rich people with money and businesses move elsewhere.
Ferrari hears the sweet ring of the cash register with every new car sold. The Italian company banks a profit of $80,000 per car sold and tops the industry, per a study from German economics professor Ferdinand Dudenhoffer.
Motor1 translated the study's findings to show Ferrari's well-off margins, which are current for the first six months of the year. Rival Lamborghini does not make its financial results public. Ferrari's profit margin is over four times greater than the second-most profitable company, Porsche.

JDC-Miller Motorsports will field a two-car Cadillac DPi-V.R program in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship, starting with the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2019.
The team, which currently campaigns a pair of ORECA 07 LMP2 cars in the WeatherTech Championship, confirmed earlier in the year that it was evaluating potential DPi options. The announcement comes one week after IMSA’s decision to separate DPi and LMP2 in 2019 was made public.
The Don Panoz-led Green4U GT-EV project, which was announced at Le Mans last year, has officially been shelved.
Originally, Panoz’s plan, was to race the all-electric car as a Garage 56 entry at Le Mans this year, though back in December 2017 Green4U told DSC that discussions were still ongoing about a Le Mans entry and that the project “hadn’t been granted a Garage 56 slot for 2018 or beyond”.

Tourist in Dubai rents Lamborghini, racks up $47,000 in speeding fines in 4 hours
Before I went to Dubai last fall, I imagined a sea of supercars running rampant with few repercussions. I couldn't have been more wrong (at least when it comes to the repercussions bit). Speed cameras in Dubai are no joke. The drivers, though occasionally erratic, steadfastly follow speed limits. And the penalties for breaking the law in the United Arab Emirates are quite severe. Apparently, a 25-year-old British tourist was expecting more freedom when he racked up more than $47,000 in fines in a rented Lamborghini Huracan in fewer than four hours.

Potter will give the field the green flag as they come roaring under him to start the race. Wallace will experience the thrill of leading the field to the green flag. Judge Denies Pretrial Deal for Dodge Challenger Hellcat Driver
Garza Indiana State Police Mugshot
What's a good place to take your Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and let all 707 horses run wild at 150 mph? Unsurprisingly and unfortunately for one 30-year-old Chicago man, the answer is not a public highway in Indiana, where a judge recently declined his petition for a deal to avoid a trial for allegedly doing exactly that, according to the Chicago Tribune.
We first highlighted the saga of Christopher Garza last April, when he was pulled over at 1:30 in the morning on I-90 by a very surprised Indiana State Trooper after getting clocked at 158 mph while passing through the city of Gary. Garza had recently purchased the Hellcat, and he reportedly told police that his friend and passenger was a wounded veteran who he was trying to cheer up with a quick thrill ride. He also said he thought the empty, straight highway was the safest place to do it. Don't buy it? Neither did the cops, who arrested him for reckless driving and towed the Challenger.
(GMM) Renault had to jump at the chance to sign Daniel Ricciardo.
That is the view of the French team's boss Cyril Abiteboul, after it was announced that Australian Ricciardo is switching for 2019 from Red Bull.
Abiteboul admitted that Esteban Ocon had been "on the short list" but it "did not work out". Also considered was Carlos Sainz, but Ricciardo "was the only option, besides being the best, for us to have a 100pc Renault driver".

The universal aero kit may be nearing the close of its first season of Verizon IndyCar Series competition, but the development and learning continues.
That was in evidence Monday when reigning Indianapolis 500 champion Will Power and current points leader Scott Dixon took part in a Firestone tire test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway that included time testing parts for INDYCAR that could be added to the superspeedway kit configuration for the 2019 Indy 500.
Final Weekend TV Ratings It looks like NASCAR fans prefer road racing and they prefer network TV over cable TV as ratings were up big this past weekend, instead of being down double digits like they are on NBCSN

Brian France DUI Arrest makes headlines on network news
Brian France's mugshot
NASCAR Chair & CEO Brian France’s DUI arrest found its way into the opening segment of two network news shows last night.
CBS’ “Evening News” teased the report in the opening of its telecast, with NBC’s “Nightly News” reporting on France about 15 minutes into the broadcast. ABC’s “World News” did not report on France.
NBCSN’s “NASCAR America” led with France’s arrest, with a report from NBCSN’s Nate Ryan on how this could affect the day-to-day operations of NASCAR.
That is contrasted by FS1’s “NASCAR Race Hub,” which reported on France 15 minutes into the broadcast. FS1’s Adam Alexander read a statement from France, but there was no discussion among the co-hosts about his arrest. THE DAILY
Ford and Ferrari are among the manufacturers no longer attending the meetings to shape the FIA and ACO’s proposed ‘Hypercar’ regulations, which are due to come into force in the 2020-21 World Endurance Championship.
Sportscar365 has learned that both automakers, along with Porsche, which were among the half-dozen manufacturers in roundtable discussions prior to the ACO’s announcement of the platform at Le Mans in June, have been absent from recent technical working group meetings in Paris.
Recent filings at Companies House reveal that on 26 July, Mansour Ojjeh stepped down as a director of McLaren Racing, while also stepping down as a director of McLaren Marketing and McLaren Applied Technologies.
Ojjeh's involvement with McLaren goes back to the early 80s, when his TAG-Group bought a majority stake in the Woking company. His holding now stands at 15.9%, with a further 62.6% held by the Mumtalakat sovereign wealth fund and the rest held by a number of investors, including Michael Latifi who bought a 10% stake for £203m in May.
Video: Mick Schumacher On Following In His Father's Footsteps At Spa
Mick Schumacher recently made headlines as he secured his maiden F3 victory at Spa-Francorchamps, the same venue at which his father, Michael, made his F1 debut and achieved his first ever F1 win. Mobil 1 The Grid spent time with the German teenager to discuss the Schumacher family's legacy at Spa and his ultimate ambition of reaching F1.
On the Schumacher legacy at Spa: “I have only good memories of Spa. As everybody knows, this is, let’s say, the living room of my dad. I really like and love racing here, because I know that he raced here as well. I’m always happy to be here and every year to come back here.”

Speed grabs lead at start
Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross’ (VARX) Scott Speed took a clean sweep in the third round of Americas Rallycross (ARX) at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres to win in his Volkswagen Beetle Supercar.
Speed led his VARX teammate Tanner Foust for every lap in the semi and final to take all available points in Canada. Foust was second, and Ken Block came in third. Foust started on the second row of the grid in the final and passed Hoonigan / Loenbro Motorsports driver Block in the run to the first turn. Subaru Rally Team USA’s Chris Atkinson passed teammate Patrik Sandell for fourth position in turn one before the Australian driver, Atkinson, took his joker lap on the first lap, in front of Block’s teammate, Steve Arpin.
Gordon, Waltrip & McReynolds on Chase Elliott's Win
Chase Elliott, NASCAR’s most popular driver, finally broke through for his first career MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES win Sunday at Watkins Glen International. Below, FOX NASCAR analysts four-time champion Jeff Gordon (whom Elliott replaced at Hendrick Motorsports in 2016 upon Gordon’s retirement), three-time champion Darrell Waltrip and Larry McReynolds discuss the significance of the victory for the driver, his team and the sport in general:
On initial reaction to Chase Elliott’s win Sunday at Watkins Glen:
IndyCar trying to tweak Indy 500 aero package Indy cars were back roaring around the famed oval at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Monday, the first time since May's 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500.

With Dale Jr. gone, NASCAR hoping to ride Chase Elliott's coattails
With all the big names retired, NASCAR needs Chase Elliott to be the next 'hero' so they can ride the coattails of e and his father
Chase Elliott yesterday won his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race before a sold out grandstand at Watkins Glen Int'l.
Elliott, the son of NASCAR HOFer Bill Elliott and the presumed successor to Dale Earnhardt Jr. as the sport's new most popular driver, won the race in the No. 9 Chevrolet during his 99th Cup Series start for Hendrick Motorsports.
The win by Elliott was a long time coming for him, the team and a series desperate to see new drivers step in to fill the void of a glut of recently retired stars.
Elliott will likely do interviews this week but is not expected to do a media tour in N.Y. as drivers sometimes do after big events. The win was the 250th for HMS and comes a little more than a year after its most recent Cup win. Adam Stern, SBD.

Tesla Model 3 Outsold All Mercedes-Benz Cars Combined
The air polluting internal combustion engine manufacturers are being taught a hard lesson by Tesla
Tesla already stated that the Model 3 outsold in July all other models from the mid-sized sedan segment in the U.S. But this new graph shows us how big the difference really is compared to a few particular models.
According to AID, around 13,000 Model 3 (numbers vary depending on estimations) were sold last month compared to just:
≈3,800 Mercedes-Benz C-Class ≈3,400 Audi A4 ≈3,200 BMW 3-Series ≈2,100 Lexus IS
