From Sebastien Bourdais' dominance to Tony Kanaan's remarkable streak, here's what you need to know before the #PortlandGP.

It is rare that anyone outsmarts Team Penske when it comes to race and pitstop strategy, and they will look to make it a two-horse, all-Penske, race (Newgarden and Pagenaud) going into the final round at Laguna Seca.
Tyler Dippel Indefinitely Suspended by NASCAR (3rd Update)
NASCAR overreacted before all the evidence was in, jumped to the wrong conclusion, and Tyler Dippel got the NASCAR screw
UPDATE NASCAR reinstated Tyler Dippel on Wednesday (Aug. 28) night. The sanctioning body lifted his suspension after the charge against him of possession of a controlled substance was dismissed during his court appearance earlier the same day.
As a result, Dippel is eligible to return to racing when the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series resumes action at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sept. 13.
Although Young’s Motorsports has not announced whether he will return to the seat of the No. 02 Chevrolet, the team did not fire him when he was initially charged.
(GMM) There will be no comeback for what Melbourne's state Victorian government calls the "sneaky" way two F1 teams tried to advertise cigarettes at the Australian GP.
That is the claim of Jenny Mikakos, who is the Victorian health minister. She is referring to how big tobacco-related sponsors of the Ferrari and McLaren teams are running on-car branding in 2019.
Following the government's concerns, Philip Morris' 'Mission Winnow' and British American Tobacco's 'A Better Tomorrow' campaigns were removed from the Ferrari and McLaren cars respectively in Melbourne in March.

Rapid Response Movie Trailer - In Theaters September 6, 2019
Rapid Response - a powerful new feature film documentary that explores the growth of motorsports safety and the extraordinary skills of the on-track safety teams and the talented doctors who spearheaded the technical advances through racing's most dangerous years, is coming to a movie theater near you starting September 6.
We think that you, your fans, and the whole racing community will find the insightful interviews with some of best racers of all time (like Mario Andretti, Parnelli Jones, Bobby Unser, Al Unser, Helio Castroneves, and Rick Mears) not only forthright but highly informative. Each of these men brings a wealth of first-hand experience to the safety discussion that will reach from the Indianapolis 500 to the heart of every racetrack across America and beyond.
This film is a very serious one with strong images and a grueling story to tell, but it's also a tribute to the people who worked (and continue to work) to make motor racing a far safer sport while not diluting the thrills.
Until mere hours ago, it was not even clear if there would be 21 or 22 races next year, as negotiations about a reduction in winter testing or an additional engine allocation for 2020 were taking place.
But a 22-race calendar now seems certain, with Liberty Media announcing that a one-year reprieve for the Spanish GP at Barcelona has been agreed.
Renault got start of 'power unit' era wrong - Abiteboul
Abiteboul has had zero success leading Renault to date
(GMM) Cyril Abiteboul has admitted that Renault messed up its start to the current 'power unit' era.
The French marque is still recovering, but now with its works team, a big step was made over the last winter period. Daniel Ricciardo is at the wheel in 2019 and a key focus is on improving the chassis, which is designed at Enstone.
Back in 2014, though, for the start of the current turbo V6 era, Renault only supplied engines. It had four clients: the two Red Bull teams, Lotus and Caterham.
V8 Supercars, w/o IndyCar, to start night racing on the Gold Coast
Night racing coming to Surfers Paradise
Now that it has been decided not to bring IndyCars back to the Gold Coast (too expensive, no global TV exposure to justify the expense) residents will hear the roar of V8 Supercars through the streets of Surfers Paradise until 9:30pm within two years, the Queensland Government has announced. The government money was better spent on lighting rather than flying the entire IndyCar circus to Surfers.
Tourism Minister Kate Jones said there would be two nights of racing from 2021.
"The Gold Coast will be the first place anywhere in the world to have Supercars under lights at a street circuit and it will be only the second place in the world to have night racing," she said.

From zero to hero. That was the story of Takuma Sato (Honda) who was blamed for a 5-car first lap accident last weekend in the Pocono 500, turned it all around this weekend to win the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at Gateway in a near photo finish. Ed Carpenter almost caught Sato at the line but came up short by 0.0399s.
Tony Kanaan got the first podium position for AJ Foyt Racing in a long time. Rookie Santino Ferrucci (Honda), who led the most laps, came home 4th.

A great crowd that hardly anyone saw on TV given the low ratings - always - on NBCSN
UPDATE The final ratings for Gateway are in and they are not pretty. NBCSN pulled a lousy 0.20 final rating for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at Gateway Saturday night, down 13.0% from 2018.
Just 310,000 tuned in, and only 72,000 in the all important 18-49 age group for what was an exciting race.
While the race may have been exciting, very few saw it because very few people tune into NBCSN, only the die-hard fans. Think of all the additional sports fans who may have seen it on ESPN or network TV and fallen in love with IndyCar. NBCSN never was, and never will be, a go-to channel for sports fans.
