“As fellow Texans, our hearts go out to those who have lost so much and we would like to extend a helping hand to help with the recovery,” said Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota Motor North America. “At Toyota, we have a comprehensive approach to disaster relief, working with numerous organizations to provide help where its needed,” he said in a statement Wednesday.

This week was to be a celebration of Shell and Pennzoil coming together in 2002 with a special paint scheme on Joey Logano’s No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion at Darlington Raceway for the official “Throwback Weekend of NASCAR.” Now, Shell and Logano are asking the NASCAR community to come together to help bring assistance to those impacted by the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.
As of this writing, the homes of A.J. Foyt, his family and his crew have not been damaged by Hurricane Harvey with the exception of one crew member who did sustain some flooding.
Both teams prepped the ABC Supply Chevrolets in the Foyt Racing facility in Speedway, Ind. this week which had been previously planned due to the northern swing in the schedule. Foyt and his son Larry could not get to their homes in Texas so they spent the week in Indianapolis prior to leaving for Watkins Glen.
INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 31, 2017) – The partnership that has claimed five Indianapolis 500 victories will remain intact as Andretti Autosport announced today that the team will return to Verizon IndyCar Series competition in 2018 with Honda-powered machines as part of a multi-year agreement.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- According to the Tennessean, Speedway Motorsports has joined the fray to be the potential promoter of the historic Fairgrounds Speedway.
The Tennessean reported that Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway officials confirmed the track, which is owned by SMI, has applied for a contract with the city of Nashville. Bristol is one of seven race tracks owned and operated by Speedway Motorsports.

Liberty University and 12-time NASCAR Cup Series champions Hendrick Motorsports have reached a two-year agreement that will make the world's largest Christian university a primary sponsor of the #24 Chevrolet Camaro driven by William Byron.
Byron, 19, will carry primary sponsorship from Liberty University in 12 Cup Series races in both 2018 and 2019. It was announced Aug. 9 that the Charlotte, North Carolina, native will move to NASCAR's premier level next season and compete for rookie of the year honors.

Team Penske confirmed this Wednesday as part of its greater NASCAR sponsorship announcement for 14 races with Ryan Blaney in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, in addition to 22 races it will sponsor Paul Menard with the Wood Brothers.

WC Vision, producers of the Pirelli World Challenge, and Circuit of the Americas officials announced Monday that the PWC Grand Prix of Texas sports car weekend will continue as scheduled for the Sept. 1-3 racing event at the start-of-the-art 3.427-mile, 20-turn racing facility southwest of downtown Austin.

Ryan Blaney's Darlington Throwback Paint Scheme Honors Kyle Petty

The Wood Brothers race team unveiled their throwback paint scheme to be driven by Ryan Blaney in this weekend’s Bojangles Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, bringing back the iconic red, white and blue paint scheme campaigned by driver Kyle Petty during the 1987 Cup season.
Kyle Petty drove for the Wood Brothers for four seasons from 1985 to 1988, first running a no. 7 Ford Thunderbird with sponsorship from 7-Eleven before Citgo came on board for the 1987 season and brought back the historic no. 21 to the team.
"That was a really special time for Len and me," team co-owner Eddie Wood recalled.

With 31 laps to go, Newgarden got a great run down the long front straight and dove to the inside of Pagenaud’s Chevrolet entering turn 1. Pagenaud tried to regain his line but Newgarden held the position, bumped into Pagenaud, sending his car adrift up the track into the marbles. Pagenaud slowed down and wrestled the wheel to keep control in what was the decisive moment of the race.

DC Solar, a California-based clean energy company that specializes in mobile solar technology, has been named the Official Mobile Solar Provider at Darlington Raceway.
Under the new partnership, Darlington Raceway will incorporate DC Solar's environmentally friendly light towers into its safety and security network throughout the venue. Since solar technology requires no fuel and only minimal maintenance, incorporating solar will allow the track to operate with greater efficiency, and at a substantially lower cost.
