Truex, Kurt Busch, Bowyer comment on contracts
Kurt Busch
Kurt Busch
Martin Truex Jr. and Kurt Busch expect to stay with their current teams, indicating Thursday that their deals are imminent and just announcements await. Neither Truex nor Busch was expected to go anywhere. Furniture Row general manager Joe Garone has said it's been the team's intent to re-sign Truex.

Stewart-Haas Racing officials have said they have a handshake deal done with Busch. But it still is a rare scenario: Three Chase-qualified drivers (Truex, Busch and #15-Clint Bowyer) enter the opener this weekend without deals announced for next year. "I'm very fortunate I have a great race team," said Truex, who rebounded from 24th in the standings in his first year at Furniture Row to win a race and be 10th entering the Chase this year.

Vettel can imagine Red Bull-Ferrari tie-up
Ferrari power for both Red Bull teams in 2016.

Lawsuit against Stewart expected to move to federal court
Tony Stewart
Tony Stewart
The wrongful death lawsuit against Tony Stewart will be transferred to the Western District of New York court in Rochester, N.Y. The case was to have been heard in the Northern District of New York court in Utica, N.Y.

The motion was made because Stewart's attorney stated that the federal court in Rochester, N.Y., is closer to Canandaigua (N.Y.) Motorsports Park - where Kevin Ward Jr. died after he was struck by Stewart's sprint car - and more convenient for non-party witnesses expected to provide testimony.

Paperwork filed by Stewart's attorney Tuesday stated that the plaintiffs, Ward's family, agreed to the move. A stipulated order was submitted and awaiting the judge's signature to make the move official.  NBC Sports

Force To Say Thank You To Jeff Gordon With Special Chevy Camaro In Charlotte
John Force Funny Car with Jeff Gordon retro DuPont colors
John Force Funny Car with Jeff Gordon retro DuPont colors
John Force's memories of Jeff Gordon go back to the early 1990s when the two drivers were just getting started on their impressive championship runs. As Jeff Gordon wraps up a legendary career at the end of this season Force wanted to say thank you to Gordon in a way that only the 16-time NHRA Funny Car champion could with a fully flamed Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car. Force will run the Funny Car for one race, the NHRA Carolina Nationals starting on September 18th.

"I got the idea for the flames from Jeff telling me years ago he was a fan because I was always on fire. He was right, when I got started we were on fire from here to Australia. I always enjoyed seeing Jeff at races and award banquets. The guy was just so polite and professional but you knew he had the eye of the tiger too. You don't win all those championships on your good looks. This special Funny Car is just a way for me, my family, my team, my sponsors, NHRA and the fans to say thank you for being a great champion and being such a great driver in NASCAR. I put as many flames as my designer Brandon (Baker) could fit on my hot rod in Jeff's honor," said Force, who will unveil the Funny Car on Friday at the NHRA Carolina Nationals.

Mexico's Peraltada corner renamed after Nigel Mansell

The 1992 world champion performed one of Formula One’s most celebrated overtaking moves at the corner while driving for Ferrari in 1990, by overtaking Gerhard Berger’s McLaren on the outside of the high-speed 180-degree corner.

The bend has been truncated for F1’s return to the venue this year due to a lack of run-off space. It will now have a new name to go with its new configuration: the Nigel Mansell Turn.

Penske questioned NASCAR for not penalizing Kenseth on final restart (Update) UPDATE NASCAR defended its decision Monday not to penalize Matt Kenseth on the final restart of Saturday night's Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway. Steve O'Donnell, NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer, addressed the restart in his weekly appearance on "The Morning Drive" on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Asked if NASCAR was content on making the calls on restarts, O'Donnell said: "I think for now we're still content. It is ... a ball-and-strike call. We've got the ability to go back and look at video, which we do, and in this case made the call and moved on from it. It's still one that we want to leave in the drivers' hands. If we have to get involved and make those calls with more video, I think we'll do that, but we'd still like to see it play out the way it does through the final 10." NBC Sports
