NASCAR Teams continue to find ways to cheat (Update) UPDATE NASCAR put the hammer down and issued this bulletin today aimed at all the cheaters in NASCAR:
All, The scene we had on the back straightaway last week after the Chicago event is unacceptable. The crazy radio communications, swerving, wheel hopping, and shifting to reverse are unacceptable. This and any other questionable behavior becomes the story. If we aren’t talking about the racing after the event the sport suffers. The LIS specifications have been modified, in part, so that teams don’t need to resort to this behavior on the cool down lap. We all know it is possible to manage to the numbers without all of this. We need to make this Championship about racing not about the LIS, swerving, penalties, lug nuts, tape trips, etc. We ask for your cooperation, if you force our hand we will act accordingly.

She acknowledged she understood the charges against her and that she also understood her right to remain silent. Ecclestone says F1 hybrid engines were a big mistake
Ecclestone knows the high tech engines sound horrible and create an advantage for the big teams
Complaints, knee jerk reaction and criticism are not unusual in our world of F1 social media. And so it is rather ironic that the man who has failed the new media generation also voices such things about his own product, namely F1.
Yet again, the boss of F1 (for now) has told reporters that F1’s ‘biggest mistake was introducing hybrid’ into the sport. Perhaps in an attempt to shape the new owners thoughts as to the future of F1, again Mr E criticizes the complicated technology and Mercedes dominance. Repeatedly stressing he’d change the engine rules today if it were possible.

Three-cylinder Honda is faster than a Bugatti Veyron
Honda's S660 roadster, a tiny Japanese sports car that makes a Mazda MX-5 Miata look large, is powered by a three-cylinder engine that puts out 63 horsepower. As you might imagine, it's not very fast. Stick that engine into a vehicle that closely resembles the HondaJet, though, and it sets a new FIA class record of 261.875 miles per hour at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
While the S-Dream Streamliner's three-cylinder, 600-cc engine is similar to the one found in the S660, it has been heavily modified to produce what Honda claims is three times the original amount of power. A Veyron-beating top speed from roughly 190 hp is still plenty impressive. The record car topped out at 266 mph at one point, but it didn't match that speed on the return run.

The 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship calendar, presented today to the FIA Endurance Commission, presided over by Sir Lindsay Owen-Jones, and which will be submitted in the coming days to the FIA World Motor Sport Council for validation, once again offers the WEC’s manufacturers, teams and partners the stability, visibility and geographic spread of prestigious worldwide venues that have been a mark of the championship to date.
While the nine rounds closely echo the 2016 calendar in terms of venues and dates, a significant addition to the calendar is the debut of the WEC at the temple of Italian motorsport, Monza, for the official pre-season test – The Prologue. The addition of the high-speed circuit to the calendar will be a welcome addition for teams as part of their preparations for the cornerstone event of the world championship, the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Truex, Johnson fail post-race inspection (3rd Update) UPDATE
NASCAR has decided to increase the tolerances for postrace measurements, eliminating all lower-tier penalties and only issuing a penalty if it reaches the point where suspensions would be issued and a win would not be allowed to count toward advancement in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. The decision is retroactive to the race last weekend at Chicagoland Speedway, meaning that race winner Martin Truex Jr. and 12th-place finisher Jimmie Johnson will not be penalized for being outside the rear alignment tolerances by a minimal amount. Without a penalty, Johnson remains eighth in points. With the 10-point penalty he would have received, Johnson would have fallen into a tie for 12th in the standings.
NASCAR Executive Vice President Steve O'Donnell said the decision was made so that all penalties are equitable. Under the previous structure, Truex virtually would have no penalty because he won the race to automatically qualify for the next round of the Chase while Johnson would have had a major 10-point penalty that could have put his ability to advance to the next round in jeopardy.

TV host Mike Rowe does amazing audition to sing '(Back Home Again in) Indiana' at the 500 Let's get this out of the way: Mike Rowe, host of TV shows like "Dirty Jobs" and "Somebody's Gotta Do It," is not a Hoosier. He's from Maryland. He's been here multiple times, however. He's "milked a lot of cows" here, and in 2009 he collected semen from a bull in our fair state.
He notes those aren't qualifications to sing Indiana's most beloved song, mind you. Just an honest recounting of his history here.

Pagenaud Makes History Capturing His First Indycar Championship

The series championship marks the 14th IndyCar title for Team Penske and the organization’s 29th national championship overall. Will Power followed the champion Pagenaud in second while Helio Castroneves came home third after a seventh place finish in the race. It’s the first time in 22 years (1994) since Penske has accomplished this feat.

However, Mark Kent, director of competition for Chevrolet and Cadillac, told RACER that Pratt & Miller has elected not to be involved due to tight time frames and uncertainty over the design parameters.
