F1 teams complain about Budkowski going to Renault
(GMM) A few people are uneasy in the Formula 1 paddock over the possibility that former F1 technical chief Marcin Budkowski may be joining Renault.

NASCAR driver Kyle Larson is "part of the demographic NASCAR is desperately trying to reach," and his new sponsor, global payment technology solutions firm First Data, is the type of company that young people "can relate to," according to Brendan Marks of the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER.

Larson said, "Any sponsor you get is great, but I guess when it is shifted more toward a younger demographic, I definitely think that’s good for our sport." Marks notes NASCAR has "failed to convert younger generations into fans, and as a result, viewership is consistently down."
China sends shock-wave thru auto industry - sets target for electric car quota
Stick a fork in internal combustion engines
China will force auto makers to accelerate production of electric vehicles by 2019, a move that will ripple around the globe as the industry bends to the will of the world’s largest car market.
The move is the latest signal that officials across the globe are determined to phase out traditional internal combustion engines that use gasoline and diesel fuels in favor of environmentally friendly vehicles powered by batteries, despite consumer reservations. The U.K. and France are aiming to end sales of gasoline and diesel vehicles by 2040. India has a goal to sell only electric vehicles by 2030.

However, the session was stopped 10 minutes early after a loose drain cover punctured a tire on Romain Grosjean's Haas, sending the Frenchman into the barriers.
It was not a great session for Mercedes either, who were beaten to fifth place by McLaren's Fernando Alonso, with Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas sixth and seventh respectively. Completing the top ten were the Force Indias of Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon, split by the Renault of Nico Hulkenberg.

How many of these sponsors might switch to IndyCar and NASCAR when fans stop buying their products? Lower TV ratings and cash revenue is the only things they understand. Maybe Roger Goodell should put more effort into addressing his CTE problem. That is what the players should be protesting.
NFL revenue is generated by sponsorships, television deals and jersey and ticket sales. NFL revenue is split among all teams. These are the NFL sponsors to boycott because they support players disrespecting America.

SEBRING, Florida – As test sessions go, it wasn’t terribly busy. Four cars and five drivers turned a sparse number of laps in sweltering heat today at Sebring International Raceway.
But what the Verizon IndyCar Series test lacked in on-track activity was remedied by the significance of the work. Newly crowned champion Josef Newgarden, Scott Dixon, Oriol Servia, James Hinchcliffe, Juan Pablo Montoya and Spencer Pigot furthered the development of the remodeled Dallara IR-12 chassis – namely the road- and street-course brake systems – during a day-long session on Sebring’s short course that comes closest to resembling the tight, concrete-lined, brake-reliant street circuits that make up nearly a third of the series schedule.
