Feds Holding Online Auction for 149 Classic Cars Seized in DC Solar Fraud Case
DC Solar's Jeff and Paulette Carpoff receiving special recognition from the Martinez City Council and Chief of Police, Manjit Sappal, for their contribution to the city's automated license plate reader (ALPR) program using Ponzi scheme money
In less than two weeks' time, nearly 150 collector cars, trucks, and boats will cross the auction block to settle a civil case between failed energy startup DC Solar and its victims.
DC Solar was a supplier of mobile solar power generators that raised $800 million in capital from the likes of Berkshire Hathaway, Sherwin-Williams, and Progressive. Unfortunately for DC Solar's investors, its owners Jeff and Paulette Carpoff allegedly used the purported energy startup's money to live a lavish lifestyle, collecting cars, sponsoring NASCAR teams like Chip Ganassi Racing, and even buying a baseball team, all on the company dollar.
Law enforcement identified DC Solar as a possible Ponzi scheme and kicked over the house of cards last December with a raid on the Carpoffs' home, wherein phones, $1.8 million in cash, and 149 of the Carpoffs' vehicles were confiscated. All these seized vehicles will soon be auctioned off by Apple Auctioneering in Woodland, California, and their proceeds will be funneled back to those cheated by DC Solar.
Andretti says big changes coming for WAU squad for 2020
Short of switching to Fords and buying cars and engines from the Penske team, WAU will likely continue to struggle in Supercars
Andretti Autosport boss Michael Andretti is predicting ‘big changes’ for Walkinshaw Andretti United next year after getting throttled by the Ford Mustang teams all year . Aside from last weekend’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 podium when James Courtney and Jack Perkins secured third, the Holden squad has stumbled in the second year of its partnership with the IndyCar giant and Zak Brown’s United Autosports after showing promise last season.
“I think this year’s been a little bit disappointing, but we sort of had an idea we’d have some challenges for one reason or another,” said Andretti.

The track is planned in an industrial area next to the Oahu airport
There is no motorsports facility on the island of Oahu…where just under one million people call home in Hawaii. This has resulted in a stagnation of the motorsports industry with no suitable location for holding events. The many opportunities that such a facility offers are lost for the community to include family bonding, peer mentoring, driving education and training. The absence of a circuit has directly affected our economy, causing local mom and pop auto stores to shutter while negatively affecting the commercial, tourism, service and food industries.
