Italian media assaults Marquez at his home
Marc Marquez's mentor Emilio Alzamora says the outgoing World Champion is considering legal action after Italian reports "assaulted" the Spaniard and his family at their home near Barcelona on Friday.

Relations in MotoGP have soured across the past week courtesy of an on-track clash between Valentino Rossi and Marquez at the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Marquez claims that the pair of reporters confronted him at his home in Cervera on Friday and Alzamora says that the Honda rider must be respected as the situation escalates.

Andersen Promotions Announces USF2000/Pro Mazda Chassis Manufacturer UPDATE This Press Democrat article underscores why America can't build an open wheel car - the school district has lowered the bar for a 'F' grade to 20%. 20%! Imagine that! And you wonder why so many people want to throw out our socialist government in Washington and do something to make America great again? Pathetic.

Manor F1 team in freefall as more key people resign
Alexander Rossi can give up on any hope he might do something with his F1 career with Manor next year
Stick a fork in the Manor F1 team, the rats are abandoning this sinking ship. Technical chief Bob Bell has joined John Booth and Graeme Lowdon in tendering his resignation from the team.

Team principal Booth and sporting director Lowdon had opted to quit following a difference of opinion over the future direction of the team with owner Stephen Fitzpatrick.

Now technical consultant Bell has also chosen to depart just five months following his appointment on June 1.

Rumors are that other key personnel have resigned and it may be that Fitzpatrick has decided to pull the plug on the money losing team.

Mexican GP: Rosberg leads Mercedes 1-2 in final practice
Nico Rosberg
Nico Rosberg, using the power of the Mercedes engine, finished 0.014secs ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton to top final practice for the Mexican GP.

Having set the pace on the first day around the revamped Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez Rosberg was again the driver to beat on soft tires, stopping the clock at 1min 21.083secs.

Though slippery initially following overnight rain, improving track conditions meant times came tumbling down over the course of the hour, with Rosberg proving the most consistent as he worked down his time, doing just enough to keep Hamilton at bay by a mere 0.014secs.

Montoya Ruled Out of 2016 Le Mans Debut with Porsche
No LeMans for Montoya
Juan Pablo Montoya has been ruled out of making his debut in the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year, according to Porsche LMP1 team principal Andreas Seidl.

Montoya was confirmed to test the Porsche 919 Hybrid next month in Bahrain, prompting speculation the Colombian could be in line to replace Nico Hulkenberg in the third factory LMP1 entry at Le Mans in 2016.

However, despite the open weekend on the IndyCar schedule, a Le Mans-only assault for Montoya isn't on the cards, with the focus on the test instead being on possibilities for 2017 and beyond.

Manor situation 'a waste' says departing Lowdon
(GMM)  Amid high speculation in Mexico about the team's future, Graeme Lowdon said Manor will clarify the situation as soon as possible.

Reports suggest Lowdon, the team chief executive, and Manor founder and team principal John Booth, are quitting the British backmarker at the end of the year over a dispute about the direction of the team with investor Stephen Fitzpatrick.

"I'm sorry," Lowdon told Speed Week correspondent Agnes Carlier in Mexico, "I can't comment at the moment."

New SAFER barriers narrow Martinsville track
Martinsville
Martinsville
The push to anchor SAFER barriers to every square foot of unprotected concrete in the Sprint Cup Series has been an ongoing crusade this season aimed at benefiting drivers. The addition of 1,600 feet of the energy-absorbing walls at Martinsville Speedway also could benefit fans who enjoy the 0.526-mile oval's reputation for engendering contact.

"First of all, (NASCAR drivers) appreciate the SAFER barriers," Carl Edwards said. "The fans should appreciate it (at Martinsville) because it's going to make it more narrow than it was. It seems driving down the straightaway trying to pass cars even in practice, it just seems really tight. As narrow and tough as this place was, it's just going to be narrower and tougher."

Mercedes: Friday Mexico City Quotes
Nico Rosberg topped the time sheets in FP2
Nico Rosberg

It's very exciting to race here in Mexico for the first time. The track reminds me very much of my youth. It feels like a kart circuit with a lot of very tight corners and the two stadiums are really spectacular with all the fans. We brought the same rear wing here as we would use in Monaco, with maximum downforce. But, because of the altitude here in Mexico City, we are also very quick on the straights which feels very strange. I was happy with the outcome today. It seems that we are quick and I was able to try a lot of different things with the car. I'm really enjoying it here and I can't wait for qualifying and the race.

Rosberg speeds thru the Stadium Section
As predicted, the lap times came tumbling down after the track was cleaned in the morning session for the 2nd practice for the Mexican GP in Mexico City. Before light rain fell and slowed the cars the last 15 minutes of the session, Nico Rosberg turned a lap of 1m21.531s to top all comers.

The Red Bulls of Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo were 2nd and 3rd ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the 2nd Mercedes.

Vettel ended the session fifth overall, a fraction of second behind Hamilton. Based on results so far, it appears the Red Bulls and Ferraris may have the measure of the Mercedes in the thin air of Mexico City

Denny Hamlin has really helped me a lot and my team overall, we've got fast race cars and they've been just kind of working on this. This is a race track we've been looking forward to as a driver and I'm excited about this round. Really these are some of my best tracks coming up so I feel like that last round was definitely the most stressful one and looking forward to this one."

The NBCSN noose that hangs around IndyCar's neck is now taking hold on NASCAR

NASCAR hit another set of historical lows for Sunday's race at Talladega. NASCAR Sprint Cup racing from Talladega, the sixth race in the Chase For the Cup, drew a 2.6 'final' rating and 4.2 million viewers on NBCSN Sunday afternoon - down 13% in ratings and 11% in viewership from last year (3.0, 4.8M) and down 16% and 14%, respectively, from 2013 (3.1, 4.9M), both of which aired on ESPN.

Joey Logano's third straight win ranks as the lowest rated fall Talladega race since at least 2000 and the least-watched since at least 2001, each falling below the marks set last year. All 18 NASCAR races on cable this season have either hit a record-low in ratings and viewership or the lowest marks in at least ten years.

Rossi says stock has gone through the roof
Can Rossi raise enough money to buy a Manor seat in 2016 when the team will have a new chassis with Williams suspension and Mercedes 'B' engines?
Alexander Rossi says his stock has "gone through the roof" since making his F1 debut at the Singapore Grand Prix.

The American driver made his debut in September after agreeing a deal to race for Manor in five of the remaining seven grands prix at the time. The third race was his home race in Austin last weekend, with Rossi finished a strong 12th having been in the running to score a point late on. Asked if the USGP performance had helped attract more interest from backers and sponsors, Rossi replied: "Oh yeah, massively.

"But to be fair the interest was kind of escalating post-Singapore and post-Japan. Me being in a race seat has kind of changed where I stand in American motorsports and where I stand in this paddock and everything. So it's much easier to try and put a prospect out when you're actually in a race seat versus the potential of being in a race seat.

IndyCar gets egg on its face in Boston again
IndyCar showed up with a helmet to present to the Boston Mayor. Only problem is Mayor Walsh didn't show up and the race promoter came off with egg on their face
In a PR stunt straight from the Dukakis campaign, IndyCar promoters yesterday tried to provide Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh with his own personalized race car helmet.

Sadly, Walsh wasn't around to wear it.

It was the latest blunder by the Boston Grand Prix organizers and the Walsh administration, which negotiated a deal to hold the Sept. 4, 2016, race without any public input or scrutiny.

The race promoters quickly whisked away the helmet when the Herald asked to take more pictures at an event at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel, but it was clearly emblazoned with Walsh's name right on the front.
