The Waiting List For Ferrari's Newest 12-Cylinder Car, The 812 Superfast, Already Extends Beyond 2018
Italian sports-car maker Ferrari N.V.(NYSE:RACE) said on Nov. 2 that its pre-tax profit rose 17% in the third quarter, to 202 million euros ($235.3 million), on a big jump in sales of its high-profit V-12-powered models.
The strong results led Ferrari to boost its full-year 2017 earnings guidance.
There were rumors that 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Brendon Hartley had signed an IndyCar contract with Ganassi Racing earlier in the year. Though not much was confirmed, it turns out that these talks were true as F1's Scuderia Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost explained to NBC Sports reporter Will Buxton.
As it appears, Hartley has changed his path for after Porsche's World Endurance Championship exit and may soon sign full-time with the Faenza-based Formula 1 team.
Mexico F1 promoter says no, tells USGP race promoter to move his race
Bobby Epstein told no way
Mexico F1 race organizer Alejandro Soberon has rejected Austin promoter Bobby Epstein's suggestion the Mexico event to be moved to June and paired with the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Mexico race is huge and the weather good that time of year.
However, at COTA, Epstein, concerned that the popularity of the Mexico event is impacting the United States round of the world championship, which is increasingly needing to look to pop concerts to boost attendance, is seeking to have the Mexico race moved to a June slot in a back to back with Canada, a suggestion dismissed by Soberon.

Toto Wolff on Hamilton and Mercedes winning F1 titles
The Silver Arrows have now won the Constructors' and the Drivers' World Championships for the fourth year in succession. How would you rate each of these successes individually? Toto Wolff: This year was quite definitely the most difficult to manage. That was because Ferrari raised the bar, and then Red Bull came into the game as well.
As a team, you are always in a more comfortable situation when you know that it is one of your two drivers who is going to win the championship. Obviously, it is not always easy keeping the rivalry within the team in check, but it was far removed from the struggles of this year. I'm very proud of the first one in 2014, because we were so keen to win it. But this one was the most hard fought of all.

UPDATE Smithfield Foods said that the company has reached a resolution with Richard Petty Motorsports over the fallout from the pork conglomerate’s planned move next season to Stewart-Haas Racing. Smithfield is now expected to stay on in some form with RPM next year in addition to its move to SHR. The brand has been on one RPM car for six seasons in a deal thought to be worth around $12M annually, but it announced a move in September to join four-car Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series team SHR next season.
Although it had been rumored that Toyota Racing Development was courting the two-car operation owned by Bob Jenkins, on Saturday at Martinsville Speedway, general manager Jerry Freeze said he expects to stay the course with Front Row Motorsports (FRM).
"We kind of heard those stories, too, but I think more than likely we're going to stay in the Ford camp," Freeze told motorsport.com. "We're talking to those guys (Ford) about how to build our program and improve our program. We've been really happy with them-and really happy with the Roush Fenway alliance."

Circuit of the Americas recently opened its doors to Formula One fans from around the world, and it nearly had to open up its wallet too. Rain showers in Austin, Texas, ahead of the Oct. 22 United States Grand Prix was just shy of the amount required to trigger a policy that COTA put in place two years earlier, according to the Austin American-Statesman.
Following the 2015 U.S. Grand Prix, COTA implemented rule, stating that it would refund 105 percent of face value for three-day passes purchased before Aug. 1 if it received more than two inches of rainfall within 24 hours of the race start. Under the policy, fans who accept the refund still would be allowed to attend the race, so COTA CEO Bobby Epstein wouldn't have minded at all if the track had to pay up.

There's no room at Dale Junior's shop for Andretti
With his IndyCar career floundering, perhaps Marco Andretti will have better luck in NASCAR. The trick to being fast in NASCAR is your ability to hang the tail out on a front engine car. Sprint Car drivers make great NASCAR drivers for that very reason - they are used to hanging the tail out on their front engine cars. Andretti, like Danica Patrick, comes with rear-engine car experience and will find the transition difficult
Another Andretti in NASCAR racing? It's not that far-fetched.
IndyCar legend Mario Andretti ran 14 races in what is now the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, winning the 1967 Daytona 500. John Andretti, Mario's nephew, competed in 393 Cup races, winning at Daytona and Martinsville.
Jeff Andretti, Mario's youngest son, tried his luck in three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races in 1999, all ending as DNFs because of mechanical issues.
And on Saturday morning at Martinsville Speedway, Dale Earnhardt Jr. acknowledged discussing the possibility of providing a NASCAR XFINITY Series ride for Marco Andretti, Mario's grandson.
Only one problem: with four Chevrolets set to compete full-time for the XFINITY title next year - with drivers Elliott Sadler, Justin Allgaier, Michael Annett and Tyler Reddick - Earnhardt doesn't have an "all-star car" to make occasional starts with a variety of drivers.
"We've got four teams and they are all full," Earnhardt said. "So it's probably not got any life, but we are friends and we've talked about it for two to three years. He has some interest in coming over and running some road courses and so does (Graham) Rahal and a bunch of other guys.
