Jorge Lorenzo
Jorge Lorenzo
Movistar Yamaha MotoGP's Jorge Lorenzo set today's already hot qualifying session at Valencia, Spain on fire, taking first place with a scorching 1'30,011s lap, a new circuit best lap record. Though team-mate Valentino Rossi will be starting tomorrow's Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana from the back of the grid, he put in a solid effort until a small crash ended his session, leaving him in twelfth place.

Movistar Yamaha MotoGP's Jorge Lorenzo left no confusion this afternoon about his intentions of winning this years' MotoGP World Championship, setting a magnificent lap for pole position at the last qualifying session of the year. Haas: Our chassis 'probably a better design' than Ferrari
Haas hopes to beat Ferrari at their own game

Gene Haas has made a rather bold claim, believing his outfit's chassis is "probably a better design" than Ferrari's 2016 offering, which is likely to challenge Mercedes going by their 2015 form.

Whilst Haas admitted many of their components will come from Ferrari because of their technical partnership, the chassis - a joint project between Dallara and Haas - will employ a different approach to what Ferrari are doing which Haas reckons could result in a better outcome.

"A substantial amount of the engine, transmission, suspension will come from Ferrari," he told Sky Sports. "But there's still a lot left that we have to do.

Tony Kanaan thinks IndyCar tethers coming for 2016
Tony Kanaan said he believes IndyCars will be outfitted with tethers to prevent parts such as dislodged nose cones from going airborne beginning next season.

Such a piece from the crashed car of Sage Karam appeared to inflict the head trauma that caused the death of driver Justin Wilson on Aug. 24, one day after he was struck at Pocono Raceway.

"We've got to be careful," Kanaan told USA Today. "When you react to an accident to try to prevent what happened there, then you're not going to create another four problems trying to fix one. That’s what's the biggest debate."

Massachusetts gets involved with IndyCar Boston negotiations
If the Boston Group has to pay for all the road improvements and municipal services there is a very good chance they will lose money on this event and it won't be around long. Boston is not 'partnering' with IndyCar like governments partner with F1 and Long Beach partners with IndyCar - a necessary ingredient for success. Maybe if IndyCar's TV ratings were not so low because of NBCSN, and the city received great exposure worldwide, they would be more willing to pay for some of the costs.
Under pressure from City Hall to start inking key agreements, IndyCar promoters quietly huddled with representatives from several state agencies on Wednesday - ranging from T officials to state police - to break down specifics of the Grand Prix-style race they're planning for the Seaport District.

The confab, first revealed yesterday by Gov. Charlie Baker, was designed to give state officials what he called an "excruciating level of detail" on the promoter's plans aside from the various one-on-one sessions they've held with state and quasi-state entities they need to ink agreements with to put on the Labor Day event.

Mayor Martin J. Walsh, after strongly defending the race, told IndyCar in a letter last week that he's "concerned" about their lack of progress in getting needed approvals from other agencies and gave promoters a two-week deadline to secure those agreements, the Herald has reported.

Rebellion just cannot compete with the high-dollar manufacturers who have developed pollution spewing diesel powered cars
Despite what's been a challenging season, on a number of levels, Rebellion Racing is planning a return to the FIA World Endurance Championship next year in LMP1 Privateer, although a switch to IMSA competition for 2017 has not been ruled out.

The Anglo-Swiss squad began its 2015 WEC campaign at Le Mans, following a late switch to AER powerplants for its pair of Rebellion R-Ones, which have since struggled with reliability issues, although still managing to collect three class wins in the last five races.

Team manager Bart Hayden said they fully intend to be back for a two-car full-season effort with the ORECA-built prototypes, looking to build on its first season with the Rebellion-AER package.

Sauber Hopes European Union Complaint Will Make Formula 1 'Equitable'
Monisha Kaltenborn
Monisha Kaltenborn
Swiss F1 team Sauber hopes its recently filed complaint with the EU competitions commission will put the series on a fairer footing, according to the team's principal. Sauber, together with Force India, filed the complaint in September, arguing that the way F1 distributes its revenues and sets its rules are both "unfair" and "unlawful."

The intent is for the commission to look into those areas and investigate why preferential treatments have been given to certain teams, said Monisha Kaltenborn, team principal of Sauber. In the current structure there is a group of teams that "effectively" decides the rules and knows them before everyone else, Kaltenborn added. This competitive advantage of knowing the rules ahead of time is reflected on the track, which in turn has an impact on the distribution of prize money by Formula One Management.

Kenseth loses appeal on two race suspension
Kenseth will be tending to his garden the next two weeks
A three-member panel upheld behavioral penalties against driver Matt Kenseth on Thursday, keeping him sidelined for the next two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.

The National Motorsports Appeals Panel heard the appeal at the NASCAR Research & Development Center, ultimately ruling that Kenseth did not provide sufficient evidence to overturn his suspension or probation for his on-track incident last weekend with rival Joey Logano.

The team's last attempt to have the penalty either reduced or rescinded will be heard later Thursday by National Motorsports Final Appeals Officer Bryan Moss. Unlike the first appeal, the burden of proof shifts to Kenseth for the final appeal. In the first hearing, the burden of proof was NASCAR's responsibility.

NASCAR suspends Matt Kenseth for two races over Logano wreck (Update) UPDATE NASCAR will hear an appeal against Matt Kenseth's suspension from the next two Sprint Cup rounds ahead of this weekend's Texas race. A statement from Kenseth's Joe Gibbs Racing team said it felt NASCAR was being inconsistent by coming down hard on Kenseth.

"The appeal will challenge the severity of the penalty, which is believed to be inconsistent with previous penalties for similar on-track incidents," it said. The appeal panel will meet at 9 a.m. on Thursday at NASCAR's R&D Center in Charlotte, N.C. We expect NASCAR will deny the appeal.

11/03/15 NASCAR suspended Matt Kenseth for two races on Tuesday for intentionally wrecking Joey Logano in an act of retaliation that carried heavy championship consequences.
