The FIM has released a 24-bike provisional entry list for the 2018 MotoGP season.
The riders include four rookies: Xavier Simeon (Reale Avintia Racing Ducati), Thomas Luthi (Marc VDS Honda), Franco Morbidelli (EG 0,0 MARC VDS Honda) and Takaaki Nakagami, whose second LCR Honda joins the grid alongside teammate Cal Crutchlow.

The 1950s were the golden age of motorsport but amid the glory and glamor there were many dark days -- especially for Ferrari.
The first decade of F1 was an unprecedented success for the Italian team which won 29 grands prix and four world titles, helping lay the foundations for the brand that became the most prestigious in the automotive world.
But with the triumphs came a series of human tragedies as "Ferrari: Race to Immortality," a new documentary about the rise of the Italian team tells in graphic detail.

Now 83, Bobby Unser said the biggest triumph of his 38-year Championship Car career came May 30, 1968, when he captured his first Indy 500 title.
“The first one will always be the favorite for anybody that wins more than one,” he admitted. “A lot of the guys would stay a whole month in Indianapolis back then.”
Unser also discussed his then-controversial 1981 Indy 500 victory, in which he was initially declared the winner, then dropped to second place behind Mario Andretti by race officials the next day, then declared the winner again in October after a lengthy appeals process. He ended up retiring soon afterward.
WEC - Ferrari wins Manufacturers' World Championship Ferrari sealed the World Constructors’ Championship in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) on Sunday. George Russell to make practice debut with Sahara Force India
Sahara Force India will give George Russell the opportunity to drive in Friday’s opening practice session ahead of this weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix. A number of BMW Team RLL engineers and technicians are at BMW Motorsport in Munich, Germany this month finishing the construction of the first US-bound all-new BMW M8 GTE as the team prepares for the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and its 10th season of sports car competition with The Ultimate Driving Machine. The Munich trip has been repeated many times over the last decade as the team has assisted BMW Motorsport personnel with the first builds of the BMW M3 GT, BMW Z4 GTE, BMW M6 GTLM and now the BMW M8 GTE. The car is scheduled to arrive at the team’s Hilliard, Ohio headquarters in late November with the US testing program starting shortly thereafter. The first IMSA-sanctioned test of the car will be at Daytona International Speedway on Dec. 5-6, 2017.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) announced today that veteran engineer Brandon Fry has joined the team as technical and racing operations director of the team’s sports car program. Fry has over 20 years of professional racing experience and was most recently race engineer for Chip Ganassi Racing’s Indy car program with Max Chilton.
“I’m really pleased that Brandon chose to join our team as technical and racing operations director,” said team co-owner Bobby Rahal. “His history of success speaks for itself and I know that he will provide great value to our organization going forward.”

Alliance Truck Parts Renews Partnership With Team Penske

Team Penske and Alliance Truck Parts announced today that the commercial transportation parts company has agreed to a multiyear extension that will continue its relationship with the No. 2 Ford Fusion team and driver Brad Keselowski through the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) season and beyond. Alliance Truck Parts will again be featured as the primary sponsor for six MENCS races on the No. 2 Ford next season and will serve as an associate sponsor on the car for the remaining events in 2018.
“I swear, if people knew what happened in my life on a daily basis,” said Marine Staff Sgt. (Ret.) Liam Dwyer, “they would say ‘how the $#%* are you racing?’”
Mazda racer Dwyer is currently at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, recovering from an intensive but successful surgery on his right leg. It is the first of several major surgeries scheduled for him in the coming months, but it’s nothing new for the 36-year-old native of Litchfield, CT, who is a multi-time race winner in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge series.
