Toyota Earns 11th Truck Series Manufacturer's Championship
Greg Biffle won with the #51 Toyota at Texas
Toyota ended the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) season in familiar fashion at Homestead-Miami Speedway, earning the 11th manufacturer’s championship – a high for any manufacturer in the series. It marked the manufacturer’s sixth title in the last seven years as Tundra drivers captured wins in 12 of 23 races in 2019.
“The success Toyota has had this year is just another testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams and drivers - whether it’s our young, up-and-coming drivers or veterans like Kyle Busch,” said Paul Doleshal, group manager of motorsports and asset management for Toyota Motor North America (TMNA). “The Truck Series has a long history of producing some of the best racing in NASCAR and we’re proud to be able to continue to showcase the Tundra and to add another manufacturer’s championship to its name.”
Juri Vips took a spectacular pole position for the Qualification Race for Suncity Group Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix – FIA F3 World Cup.
The Estonian was in the fight for pole throughout the session, one of a number of drivers to enjoy a spell as the pacesetter in the first half of the second qualifying session.
But it was only after a stoppage to clear pole contender Marcus Armstrong's crashed car that Vips really showed his hand, breaking the two minute, five second barrier with a stunning 2:04.99 lap – five seconds faster than last year's pole time – with seven minutes to go.

Alex Albon led a mostly wet and largely unrepresentative first practice session for the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos, but ended up with his Red Bull RB15 stuck in the wall at the tail-end of the 90 minutes, bringing out an FP1-ending red flag.
With the session beginning in a rainstorm, there was little early activity, as just a handful of drivers ventured out on full wet tires for what were mostly installation laps. With 35 minutes down and the track beginning to dry, however, Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen heralded the switch to intermediate tires, with the majority of the field soon following suit.

“I don’t think there is much to be said about it,” said Vettel.

The film Ford v Ferrari chronicling Ford’s podium sweep of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966 will be released nationwide this Friday. A.J. Foyt was originally scheduled to compete in that 1966 race, but he was badly injured at the Milwaukee Mile when he crashed in practice (suspension failure) and hit the wall.
Although Foyt missed that opportunity, the following year he was invited back to join the Ford team by Dan Gurney and Carroll Shelby, a fellow Texan. Gurney and Foyt rocked the motorsports world when they became the only All-American team to win the historic race with a car built in the U.S. and piloted solely by American drivers. It is a record that still stands. In contrast, the 1966 entries were built in the U.K. and were driven by a contingent of international drivers.

Isola, the Head of F1 and Car Racing at Pirelli, is hopeful the race at Interlagos will be another interesting one with plenty of overtaking, but the decision to bring the C1, C2 and C3 compounds to Brazil means the likelihood of one-stop races is high.
