(GMM) Max Verstappen has become "very popular" in Brazil, according to former F1 driver Rubens Barrichello.

Once strongly represented in F1, featuring legends like Ayrton Senna and Nelson Piquet and multiple race winners including Barrichello and Felipe Massa, there is no longer a single Brazilian driver on the grid.

But Barrichello says the Brazilian people are now turning their attention to Dutchman Verstappen.

Unable to secure an IndyCar deal, Hulkenberg will tend to his garden in 2020
(GMM) Jason Watt, a former F3000 winner, says he is not surprised that Nico Hulkenberg's Formula 1 career is ending.

Having lost his race seat at Renault for 2020, Hulkenberg was in the running for drives at Haas and Alfa Romeo but instead will farewell the paddock next weekend in Abu Dhabi.

Watt says the German's ten-year career has been up and down since 2010, but he achieved a "pretty good reputation" by dominating his teammates at Force India.

JJ Lehto today
JJ Lehto today
(GMM) Former F1 driver JJ Lehto has raised a potential "conspiracy theory" in the wake of last Sunday's Brazilian GP.

Although the late-race incidents involving the Ferrari drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Alex Albon were decisive, Finn Lehto thinks there could be more behind the historic Honda-powered one-two.

"Remember that Mercedes has already won both championships so there's no need for them to win," he told Iltalehti newspaper.

(GMM) Hopes that Miami will be able to host a Formula 1 race in 2021 will stay alive for at least another "three to six months", according to local mayor Carlos Gimenez.

F1 has reached a deal in principle for a race at and near Hard Rock Stadium, but preparations hit an early snag when opposition groups made key blocking moves at the Miami-Dade commission.

Monterey fires SCRAMP at Laguna Seca (2nd Update)
Laguna Seca
Laguna Seca

UPDATE Monterey County’s board of supervisors voted on Tuesday to hire the A & D Narigi, LLC (A&D) firm as the new track manager in charge of the county-owned park that contains WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

The five-person board voted unanimously to enter into contract negotiations with A&D. Provided both sides come to terms, the company led by former Monterey Plaza Hotel general manager John Narigi will replace the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP) at the onset of 2020.

11/14/19 Late Thursday the county, which owns the track, identified A&D Narigi Consulting (28 Mesa Del Sol Salinas, CA. 93908 ) as the new management firm who will be paid $2.3M in raw salaries per year alone to run the track operations. As far as we can tell they have zero experience operating a motorsports facility, but they probably made a big political donation to someone.

Approval of the three-year agreement is on the Board of Supervisors agenda for Tuesday. The agreement, as well as other proposals, are available at https://bit.ly/2XgDmH5

However, as the duo is summoned to Maranello for crisis talks this week, the Italian press is not signing up to that explanation.
