Nyck de Vries
Three rising stars of motorsport joined TOYOTA GAZOO Racing for the official FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) rookie test, getting a taste of the double Le Mans-winning TS050 HYBRID on the Bahrain International Circuit.
The test session was a traditional finale to the WEC season, typically taking place the day after the final race of the season. However, with the new September-to-June WEC season format, the test takes place following the final event of the year and in the middle of the 2019-2020 season.

Doubtful the France Family wants Hypercar-DPi 2.0 Convergence
Like Ford, both McLaren and Porsche are continuing to push for a global formula in sportscar racing in which both FIA WEC Le Mans Hypercars and DPi 2.0 cars can race together in the future. Nice thought but the France Family is never going to agree to that. There is a near zero chance they want to negotiate with WEC on what the rules should look like each year.
They do it in GT, and LMP2, but in the top level?
Agree to have the American teams go to the 24 Hours of LeMans in the top level class and have their heads handed to them every year? American built DPis against the likes of McLaren and Porsche?

Lindh, 18, who looks set to graduate to the top step on the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires open-wheel ladder next season after finishing as runner-up in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship and the Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires in each of the last two years – both times to Kyle Kirkwood – turned a best lap of 55.9580 seconds, an average speed of 107.438 mph, just a couple of minutes before the checkered flag flew for the final time.

Camilleri says Ferrari will never allow Wolff to be F1 boss.
(GMM) Ferrari says it would veto Toto Wolff's appointment to the top job in Formula 1.
After presiding over six consecutive world championships at Mercedes, the 47-year-old Austrian has been linked with replacing Chase Carey at Liberty Media.
But Ferrari has a unique and controversial right of veto, and CEO Louis Camilleri warns that Maranello would wield that power if the Wolff speculation is true.
"Anybody who has been an active and important player in a certain team within the last years to take on the responsibility at Formula 1 would create a conflict of interest," he said at Ferrari's end-of-year dinner.
Yuven Sundaramoorthy wants to be the first Indian IndyCar driver
When the first round of the MRF Challenge ended in Dubai last month, there was a name among the results that raised a few eyebrows. Indians don’t often win races in the series packed with international drivers and Yuven Sundaramoorthy certainly sounded like one.
The 16-year-old Yuven, who impressed many with a win in his debut weekend, is an Indian-American. He split his childhood between Shanghai and New York and it was in the Chinese city that he caught the racing bug. “I started karting when I was about 9 while living in Shanghai,” he says. “I continued to do karting after moving back to the US, with my first kart race in 2014 at Oakland Valley Race Park in New York.

Sabates, 74, founded SABCO Racing in 1987 and joined forces with current Owner Chip Ganassi in 2001, where it became known as Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates.
The duo combined to field cars in NASCAR’s top two divisions of competition and produced 43 total wins, including the Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400, and nine trips to the NASCAR Playoffs. Both cars driven by Kurt Busch and Kyle Larson won races in 2019 and made the post-season, with Larson advancing to the Round of 8 – the furthest a CGR car has ever advanced since the Playoff system began.
The 2020-2021 FIA World Endurance Championship provisional calendar announced today sees the advent of two new venues, Monza and Kyalami, while retaining many of the traditional competitor and fan favorites that have become an integral part of the WEC’s success around the world.

"Mercedes is the most dominant team ever," Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost told Auto Bild.
F1 tire pressures must be raised in 2020 - Pirelli
Pirelli boss Mario Isola
(GMM) Pirelli boss Mario Isola is warning F1 teams that tire pressures will need to be raised in 2020.
Although some teams including Haas were vehemently critical of Pirelli's 2019 tires, the teams have voted unanimously to scrap the proposed tires for 2020.
Pirelli said the teams argued that the 2020 tires were requiring considerable aerodynamic changes to their cars' designs, and that they instead wanted "stability" ahead of the major rule changes for 2021.
