Rain postpones Food City 500's conclusion at Bristol to Monday
Drivers sit during red flag delay
For the second time in the past three weeks, Mother Nature has taken a hand in the running of a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race.
After three red flags delays due to rain, the completion of Sunday's Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway will be run on Monday afternoon at 1 pm.
Despite the delays, the drivers were able to complete 204 laps before the final big deluge hit the raceway just after 4 pm EST.
The race currently sits 47 laps short of the halfway mark, where it could be called official.
Kyle Larson was the leader when the most recent red flag came out, with Denny Hamlin in second, Paul Menard in third, pole sitter Kyle Busch in fourth and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. in fifth.
Joey Logano, Daniel Suarez, defending winner Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick and Austin Dillon round out hte top ten.
The day has not been without incident. A multi-car crash on lap four gathered up several cars, including Dawsonville, Georgia's Chase Elliott. Elliott's car was left with a lot of damage. He currently sits several laps down in 33rd.
Another multi-car crash on lap 117 gathered up then leader Ryan Blaney, ending his day. To that point, Blaney had paced the field for 100 laps before being sidelined. Brandon Reed reporting live from Long Beach
