A1 Team Australia sets its sights on Sydney
After a successful and exciting start to the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport’s second season, A1 Team Australia has proven its determination and placed itself amongst the top contenders for the 2006/07 championship.

Having notched two podium finishes in the first three races and recording increasingly impressive qualifying times at each event, A1 Team Australia’s drivers have proven that they are ready for the fierce competition already unfolding.

However the past few races have thrown a variety of challenges at the team, as Seat Holder Alan Jones sees it, “A combination of a little bad luck and some dire weather unfortunately hampered the team’s fantastic efforts, and it did take away some of the momentum we had worked hard to build.

“Admittedly we’ve had some problems over a couple of races – an unplanned pit-stop in Malaysia and some very heavy rains that caused an engine misfire in Indonesia, broke our chance at another top place, but coming up to half-way through the season our car is running very well and our drivers are very comfortable behind the wheel.

“Despite it all, we are very happy with our preparations and we are all very focused on the races ahead. Now we have a break over Christmas and the Team and crew can take time to re-focus – so watch this space because we’ll be back in January with renewed determination, especially with the Australian race in our sights.”

A1GP fever is escalating across Sydney, as fans anticipate their teams’ return to home soil. In the lead up to the race, the official A1 Team Australia car, as well as some of the team’s hot-young drivers, will make a series of appearances around the city to give fans a first-hand taste of the A1GP excitement to come.

The A1 Team Australia roadshow will travel through Canberra and Sydney throughout January – with pit-stops at Summernats, Parramatta, Blacktown, China Town and Martin Place. A massive appearance is also scheduled for this year’s NRMA Motorfest at the official Australia Day celebrations in Sydney’s Hyde Park on January 26, 2007. Come-on down to meet some of the drivers and see the spectacular car over the holidays – check the A1 Team Australia website for further dates and locations in the New Year.

The A1GP Sydney race will roar into Eastern Creek International Raceway from 2-4 February, 2007, with three adrenalin-fuelled days of motorsport action. The event will see a carnival atmosphere descend on Sydney with loads of entertainment – including a spectacular opening ceremony that will bring the global buzz of A1GP to Australian shores.
