Sierra Sierra Enterprises signs James Hinchcliffe Minden, NV – Sierra Sierra Enterprises signed James Hinchcliffe into it’s two-car 2007 Champ Car Atlantic season line up. Bringing with him a strong racing background as well as a surplus of enthusiasm and excitement, James Hinchcliffe will pair up with Raphael Matos rounding out the two car effort.
"I'm really excited about signing with Sierra Sierra for next year's Atlantic series. After getting in touch with this team, it was clear how badly we wanted to work with one another, and we did everything we had to do to get the deal done. I can't wait for Vegas and I seriously expect to see some great results throughout the year,” commented Hinchcliffe.
The expansion of Sierra Sierra to a two car team was announced shortly after the successful 2006 season. Finding a driver with the right skill set and personality was critical to ensuring a successful season.
“The ‘07 season is shaping up to be even more competitive than last year. This decision puts us in the best possible strategic position,” commented Richard Raeder, Sierra Sierra’s Team Manager.
“Hinch”, a native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, comes to the team with a record of success and growth as he climbed the open-wheel racing ladder:
2006 ChampCar Atlantic: 10th place finish, one win (Portland) and three podiums 2005 Star Mazda: 3rd place finish 2004 Formula BMW USA: 2nd place finish, Top Series Rookie honor
The Sierra Sierra team and Hinchcliffe are excited to launch into 2007. The Champ Car Atlantic 2007 season opener takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada (April 6 – 8). Hinch sums it up by saying:
“I have never been as excited for a season before. I really want to thank Sierra Sierra for giving me the opportunity to be part of the family for '07. Now let's get that green flag waving and get this season started!"
