Yamamoto will also drive in GP2 Super Aguri's Sakon Yamamoto will also drive in the GP2 Series to keep his racing skills sharp during the season, having signed to race for BCN Competicion.
The Spanish team made Yamamoto its first signing of 2007, and team boss Enrique Scalabroni is hopeful that the Japanese driver can help turn around the squad's fortunes after a couple of disappointing campaigns.
"Myself, Jaime Pintanel and the whole team are looking forward for a very successful GP2 Series and all our efforts are spent along this way," team boss Enrique Scalabroni admitted, "This is why we chose Sakon as our driver."
"I am very happy and excited about challenging in such a competitive category as GP2," Yamamoto said, "I would like to thank all the people who supported me for helping me realize this opportunity. I will do as much as I can to fulfill the role in my position and I am looking forward for driving a GP2 car. I just can't wait for the forthcoming test!"
Scalabroni said that he expected Yamamoto's team-mate to be announced in the next couple of weeks, but the Japanese driver's arrival more than likely means that BCN stalwart Hiroki Yoshimoto will be moving on.
