Flying Lizard Announces Driver Lineup for Sebring Flying Lizard Motorsports has announced the team’s full driver line-up for the American Le Mans Series season-opening Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. Johannes van Overbeek and Jörg Bergmeister will be joined by Porsche factory driver Marc Lieb in the team’s No. 45 Porsche 997 RSR. Darren Law, Seth Neiman and Lonnie Pechnik will share driving duties in the No. 44 entry.
Van Overbeek is looking forward to hitting the track for the first race of the year.
"It will be great to have Marc back with us at Sebring,” he said. “Jörg, Marc and I all know one another's styles fairly well by now and we like driving together. Starting the season at Sebring is always an eye-opener. This race is a tough one on drivers, cars and crew; add a new car to the mix and it's going to be quite a weekend!"
The Sonoma, California-based team took deliver of its two new Porsche 997 RSRs over the winter and had a successful test at the ALMS Sebring Test Days. Now, the Lizards have been preparing for the full 12-race season, which gets underway in under two weeks time.
"There's a full GT2 field at Sebring and we expect fierce competition: at least four Ferraris, several strong new Porsche teams, and three Panoz entries,” said Team Manger Eric Ingraham. “The Porsche teams will still be getting used to the new cars, which are quite different from the 996-based Porsches. We were able to shake them down at the Sebring Winter Test but we still have a lot of work to do in the week before the race."
