Michigan race picks up title sponsor One of the largest banks headquartered in the state of Michigan will take center stage at Michigan International Speedway on June 17 for the running of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Citizens Bank 400 on Father’s Day weekend.
The strategic alliance between MIS and Citizens Bank, a subsidiary of Citizens Republic Bancorp, also makes Citizens Bank the “Official Bank of Michigan International Speedway” in 2007.
“We’re proud to have one of the largest banking corporations in the state of Michigan sponsor our NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race on Father’s Day,” Michigan International Speedway President Roger Curtis said. “It’s only fitting that they are teaming up with the largest sporting event in the state. The bonus for us and for race fans is that they are Michigan-based and have numerous locations throughout Michigan, including MIS’ hometown of Brooklyn.”
Citizens Bank will have in-market, promotional rights and benefits for the June NEXTEL Cup Series weekend, as well as premium signage around the MIS property during the campaign.
“This is an exciting time for Citizens,” said William R. Hartman, chief executive officer of Citizens Republic Bancorp. “We recently completed our merger with Republic Bancorp Inc. and significantly expanded our presence in the Midwest. Very soon, Citizens Republic Bancorp will be the largest bank holding company headquartered in Michigan. And now, we are aligning with the largest sports venue in the state of Michigan to present the Citizens Bank 400. We are equally proud to be the official bank of Michigan International Speedway.
“This sponsorship is perfect for us because Michigan International Speedway is as committed to creating an extraordinary fan experience as we are to ensuring an extraordinary client experience by offering the right products and services to meet our clients’ financial needs,” Hartman concluded.
Tickets are still available for the Citizens Bank 400 at Michigan International Speedway by calling the MIS ticket hotline at 1-800-354-1010 or by visiting www.MISpeedway.com.
