Kerr to debut in Le Mans 24 Hour Race
A1 Team Great Britain's Robbie Kerr will make his racing debut in the famed Le Mans 24 Hour race this year, 16th-17th June, having been confirmed to take part in the 75th running of the sports car classic alongside Mexico's Adrian Fernandez and Japan's Haruki Kurosawa of Japan in the Barazi Epsilon-entered, Lowe's sponsored Zytek LMP2 07S-03.

Kerr, a two-time winner for Great Britain in the 2006-07 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, will take the wheel of his Zytek LMP2 challenger for the first time this Sunday, 3rd June, with official practice taking place at the legendary 8.4-mile French circuit. Qualifying for this year's meeting takes place over Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th June with the packed and varied sports car field taking the green flag to herald the start of the twice-round the clock endurance race at 3pm local time on Saturday 16th June.

Robbie might be new to the Le Mans 24 Hour race but he's no stranger to Zytek. Most recently he's competed in two seasons of A1GP utilizing the British manufacturer's 550bhp, V8-powered engine -- helping steer A1 Team Great Britain to third place in the Nations Standings in successive seasons while enjoying a break-out year in the '06-'07 season with wins in China and Great Britain to add to his 12 additional career A1GP podiums.

The former British Formula Three Champion, based in Leicestershire, also boasts one previous sports car start for Zytek. Making his series debut in the Le Mans Endurance Series at Silverstone in 2004, Kerr duly stuck the factory LMP2 entry on pole position before going on to take a fourth place finish sharing the car with America's Chris Dyson.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I'm obviously really looking forward to competing at Le Mans," stated Kerr on his way to France for Sunday's test session. "I think we've got a good chance of going for the LMP2 win. I'm part of a great team and I'm lined up with a pair of brilliant team-mates so all in all we should be a strong package heading into the race.

"This is my first time competing in the 24 Hour race and having only ever raced on the Le Mans Bugatti Circuit, I'm looking forward to my first taste of the full-blown track on Sunday. I'm hoping to show well at Le Mans as I want to make the most of this opportunity!"  Credit: www.a1teamgbr.com
