Green Power Prix-View of LB  The 34th Annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach will be taking a decided step into the future April 18-20, 2008.  America’s premiere street racing event will spotlight a dynamic new attraction for 2008 – Green Power Prix-View TM – as well as multiple racing series including Champ Cars, the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race, Drifting and powerful sports cars.

Green Power Prix-View TM will feature extensive, weekend-long displays of alternative energy vehicles and on-circuit activities featuring vehicles that might range from hydrogen-powered cars to robotic vehicles.

In addition, the Lifestyle and Alternative Energy Expo - free with a race ticket - will be adding a wealth of exhibits highlighting a wide variety of renewable energy sources, water and energy conservation and green building materials to its more than 150 exhibitors already offering the latest products and services in automotive, travel, home improvement, fitness and recreation in the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center.

“Toyota applauds the addition of Green Power Prix-View to the 2008 Grand Prix,” said Les Unger, Toyota National Motorsports Manager. “It will be an excellent opportunity for race fans to get a unique insight as to where not only Toyota, but other vehicles as well, are headed in the future.

“We welcome the chance to showcase the cars of tomorrow to a knowledgeable Southern California audience that is already a pace-setter for alternative energy use in the United States.”

“It’s an idea whose time has most assuredly come to the world of motorsports,” said Jim Michaelian, CEO of the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach.  “Green Power Prix-View will give our patrons a great opportunity to see how the energy alternatives of the future will affect not only the vehicles they drive, but also the vehicles they may someday watch racing on the streets of Long Beach.

”It will add yet another layer of excitement to what is shaping up as our best event weekend ever.”

Green Power Prix-View TM entitlement and associate sponsorship opportunities are available for companies wishing to promote their green technology efforts.

The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach race weekend will again include the popular Tecate Cool Zone, with Tecate’s Fiesta Friday Concert and Saturday Rock-N-Roar Concert, along with the Tecate Miss Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach pageant immediately following the Rock-N-Roar Concert.  All three events are free to race ticket holders.

Race fans will also be able to try their hand at the latest in computer games or turn some hot laps in karts, and will again enjoy demonstrations featuring extreme sports, motorcycles, bikes and skateboards.

Ticket renewal packages will be mailed on July 27, with tickets on sale to the general public beginning October 5. For information about Green Power Prix-View TM and the 34th Annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach,  call (562) 490-4512, or log on to www.gplb.com.
