Nextel Cup returns to ESPN
ESPN will provide extensive multimedia coverage of the final 17 races of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series season, beginning with the July 29 running of the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The telecast, which begins at 1 p.m. ET Sunday, July 29, will be in high definition on ESPN. Dr. Jerry Punch will call the race with analysts Rusty Wallace and Andy Petree and pit reporters Allen Bestwick, Dave Burns, Jamie Little and Mike Massaro. Brent Musburger will host the telecast, and Suzy Kolber will host the pre-race NASCAR Countdown show with analyst Brad Daugherty. Tim Brewer will report from the ESPN DISH Tech Center.

Of the 17 races, the first six will be televised on ESPN, with the final 11 televised by ESPN on ABC. All races in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup will be on ABC, marking the first time since NASCAR instituted the Chase format that all 10 races will be on the same network. Practice and qualifying from 13 of the races will be televised on ESPN2.

ESPN, which has televised more NASCAR Cup races than any other network, is covering NASCAR Cup racing for the first time since 2000. In addition, ESPN2 is the home of the NASCAR Busch Series all season. All race telecasts include a dedicated NASCAR Countdown pre-race show and all are presented in high definition, including the first-ever use of high definition in-car cameras.

NASCAR NEXTEL Cup coverage will be available on 17 ESPN platforms, including ABC, ABC HD, ESPN, ESPN HD, ESPN2, ESPN2 HD, ESPN.com, ESPN Radio, ESPN Classic, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes, ESPN Deportes Radio, ESPNDeportes.com, ESPN International, ESPN360.com, ESPN Mobile Properties and ESPN The Magazine.   • ESPN Deportes ESPN's Spanish-language television network in the U.S. will offer exclusive coverage of all 17 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup races, with commentary from Andres Agulla and Alex Pombo. The six ESPN races will be live, while the network will present all 11 ABC races, including the 10 Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup races, on a 24-hour delay. Spanish-language news and information coverage will be provided via SportsCenter and RPM Semanal, the network’s motorsports news and information program aired Thursdays.
