Nico is not for sale! Williams’ driver Nico Rosberg has been touted as a replacement for double world champion, Fernando Alonso, should the Spaniard and McLaren go their separate ways, however team boss Sir Frank Williams has reiterated that the young German is not for sale, in fact he is a very big part of their future and he is not for sale, no matter what the price.
"We want to come back into the top three, and for this target we need a driver of Nico’s qualities,” Sir Frank told our spies in Belgium. “If I sell him, I would act against this plan."
Nico scored points for the fourth time in a row at the recent Spa event, and this proves even more that he could be a winning driver in a winning car, especially as his 5th place on the grid was just as impressive as Hamilton’s 4th place. Even his teammate, Alexander Wurz is full of respect.
"For me he is the fastest driver right now. Not only is he fast, he is also consistent and does not make any more mistakes. I can only remember one mistake from him in qualifying and that was in Melbourne. If I compare him with Kimi, whom I know from my time at McLaren, I have to say, that Nico impresses me even more. Kimi had one bad lap out of seven, Rosberg doesn't."
Patrick Head has confirmed that it is the Grove based squad’s duty to supply Nico with a car that will enable him to reach the podium in 08 and if that happens, Rosberg will be under contract as a Williams’ driver again in 2009.
